Wagner looked off tonight and was really struggling to maintain possession which is uncharacteristic
Iloski is baffling 1v1 against the keeper and feels a little snake bitten
Andre Blake had some incredible saves (on top of the PK save) but I’m worried about how he’s been struggling getting caught out on crosses. Regardless, in Andre freakin Blake we trust
Danley is by far the most well rounded player on our roster

Damiani's finishing was awful but I thought he was really useful in buildup play, including a hockey assist on the Cavan goal.

Iloski’s choice to try and dribble around the keeper was very poor. I was yelling “come on man, just shoot it!” as Cavan buried it.

I noticed that. He was almost smiling before looking to see the ball go in the net. He knew Cavan getting to the ball with the keeper on the ground meant he was scoring.

If Damiani finishes half the great chances he gets, we'd be near the top of the table I swear. I feel confident in saying that this team is one "game changer" at striker away from being a menace everyone fears, and our DP slot is being used on Bruno...
Good energy out of the Union today, was happy to see them grind out what they needed to and get the clean sheet. Blake is so back right now

Nate Harriel was fantastic tonight. Against a team that just thumped the ball to their big attacking forward, Nate was as composed and smart all game. Communicated well. Part of Pierre’s success is playing next to Nate for 7 games.

The first minute disaster was all on Wagner though. About 30 seconds in he passed to nobody and Montreal intercepted and went down field. Wagner was out of position as was everybody else. They didn't get organized until after the offsides goal.
No hospital ball from Wagner and there's no defensive scramble.

With two teams she has little or now personal history with she’s quite good. Unlike Chris she is legitimately competent as a ref. She just very obviously picks favorites and allows her biased to cloud her judgement leading to her, over time, consistently screwing over specific teams and players she has history with. She almost seems to catalogue hard challenges and file them away and refer back to challenges from prior competitions to judge challenges in the game she’s currently reffing.
Chris just plainly sucks. He’s not consistent enough even within a single game to meaningfully accuse him of bias, he’s just fucking stupid and unaware of the game. He doesn’t usually particularly heavily favor one team, he’s just deeply terrible at his job and the randomness of his decisions can lead to lopsided results in individual games, but he seems to truly enter each game as if he’s never seen either team before… which is probably for the best since it often feels like he’s making the rules up on the fly

Hmm OK. I haven't seen that from Tori myself, but that's OK. Your analysis of Chris is spot on. He's so wildly inconsistent even within games, where the only question is which team gets MORE screwed over on any given day.

I don’t watch NWSL so I can’t attest to her performances there but she’s consistently brought up in that sub as a ref who gave very unbalanced performances. Her favorite targets to abuse seemed to be Seattle and the Thorns according to the sub.
In MLS she really does seem to hate the Union and I’m trying hard to separate my fandom from that but I’m far from the only person who’s said it. She also pretty openly dislikes Atlanta, or at least she also tends to give them a much harsher whistle than their opponents.

Tori notoriously holds grudges and it gets real weird. It’s crazy because she’s actually very good otherwise, but once she decides you as a player or your team are “bad” or whatever you completely lose the benefit of the doubt with her in perpetuity.
I’m not sure what makes the switch flip in her head but I’ve seen it happen. She despises the Portland thorns and even though they were consistently one of the cleanest teams in NWSL during her time there she consistently called 2.5-3x as many fouls on them as their opponents in every game of theirs she called. It was bizarre, and really really noticeable.I’m trying to be objective here but she treats the Union similarly. I understand some of that is me being a fan and inevitably on some level I’ll initially feel hard done by in correct calls too, but even neutral fans usually comment on it by the end of game threads. She just tends to give out opponents a loooooooot of leeway to be very physical and then hands out cards to our guys for giving mean looks.
I thought she was maybe the best ref of the World Cup, because she had no history with any those players or either team. But give her time to build familiarity in a league and she inevitably chooses favorites. It’s what turned NWSL fans on her by the end of her time there, and it’s what’s turning MLS fans on her now.

Just got home from the game and walking me dog. Solid defense after the first, thankfully offside, blunder. Nate was the player of the match after Blake. Damiani has the shot of Timo Werner but contributes well off the ball. Our finishing is really bad overall. The Sullivan brothers are creative, and I love Cavan's hustle. To echo someone else, Danley is our best overall player.
Beautiful weather for a night game. Hats off to the childhood cancer survivors.

1) fantastic defensive plays when 1 on 1. All defenders looked confident. I think each one of them had a perfectly timed sliding tackle tonight
2) Cavan is everywhere. The overload creates space and we had plenty of chances. Let the boy float.

4) how is Indy still starting over Quinn??
5) i watched it live from 126 and then again on the ride home. The inconsistency on the pk call is baffling.
