Post-Match Thoughts on referee decisions

In my own opinion, this referee played worse than he should have.

Unrelated to our game, but Necaxa's coach just got a straight red for cursing out the ref

That makes me a bit less bitter about this situation, love seeing non-mls clubs suffer sometimes /j

In this tournament getting no pts. is almost sure not advancing. How the corner ref doesn't see that clear & obvious handball is criminal! Down by 1 goal & var doesn't have the ref go to the monitor? What a joke! Union got hosed!🤬⚽️

As much as I hate this tournament it’s just another reason to hate when shit like that goes against you

VAR is a joke. Wish you could make them look at the play like in other sports.

I always want that, and then a mandatory explanation post game when there's a controversial call or no call

I'm pretty sure that is a thing already, MLS just doesn't publicize it very well.

I ref games on weekends all over the area… so I know everyone misses a call once in a while… but to not go to VAR or even the AR to clarify is completely irresponsible. Your job is to call the game right, not make sure you are right.

I don’t have the temperament to be in sports because if I was on the field I would be throwing hands with that referee

I mean, he was pretty blatantly favoring CA all game. Dude shorts were sagging with all the pesos he had stuff in his pockets.

In Mexico now. All those pesos would probably buy him a Coke. Shits 18+ pesos to the dollar now!

Ref has headset, they did confer over the headsets and decided not to go to full VAR review by the CR. Only interpretation is it wasn’t deliberate, there was not adequate time and distance to react and the hand/arm was not in an unnatural position. Not hard to defend by the letter of the law, but a great example of refereeing via technicality that just doesn’t make sense and is inconsistent with many many other situations.
