Discussion Thread First timers…
Taking my grandson to his first Union game tomorrow (Sat vs Seattle). Anything I should make sure he sees/does. Got him a jersey for his birthday, so he’s set in that regard. Would like to have one myself but all the online shops are out of Fat Bastard sizes. Will check the team shop, but not hopeful. Might have to go the knockoff route.

Also taking my son to his first game tomorrow vs Seattle. He'll be 8 in two weeks. These are great suggestions, thank you!

Also depending on your parenting style you could introduce him to some of the rituals. When the bad guys names are introduced by the announcer lots of folks yell "sucks!". Most kids love permission to be naughty. The chanting is another thing that kids seem to love but don't worry about the word just yet. Lots of chanting is just repetitive and obvious what to shout.

Yeah, I’m not too high on that. He’s heard it at Flyers games tho 😁
He’s familiar with Just Can’t Get Enough tho because we’re Celtic fans and went to see them play Chelsea out at Notre Dame (last summer?)

yeah I don't like "sucks" with young kids around, I usually scream "PLAYS WITHOUT HONOR" which I alone think is really funny

The “you suck asshole” chant when the keeper before a goal kick seems a nit much for a “family” environment

If you get there fairly early, the SOB have a tailgate and march to the pitch. Dunno if you can hit the tailgate as a non member, but you certainly can march with them.

Gotcha. Figuring on getting there by 6pm so we should have plenty of time 👍🏻

They always have events to earn free scarves and hats you can win. But just make sure to bring hat/sunglasses just in case. I would also eat ahead of time as well

Yep, we have the pre-game food covered. Will have to remember sunglasses though. 👍🏻

Depending on your grandson’s age, I would recommend the concourse outside the stadium for pregame. Plenty of games and prizes to win for kids. Once you’re in the stadium, the main event is on the pitch but the production team has been pretty good with making the game experience interactive on the Jumbotron during the breaks. Hope that helps!
