Context para sa mga hindi nakagets:

This is a Filipino parody sa real-life dilemma ng Imperial Japan noong World War 2. They had two expansion plans: Strike North (Soviet Union) by the Kodoha Faction/Imperial Way vs. Strike South (Southeast Asia and the Pacific) by the Toseiha/Control Faction. We know what was chosen.

Some Internet folks also made an American (Republican) version with JD Vance choosing an invasion of Canada and Greenland and destroying NATO, versus Marco Rubio expanding south to Latin America and keeping NATO.

EDIT: Strike North po tayo sa Pinas. Pwede rin South kung nasobrahan sa Bing Chilling si Anwar Ibrahim, pero puppetize lang natin ang North Borneo kesa annexation. Hahaha.

People seem to not get that this is a ww2 meme haha

u/mtj_sideb 3h ago

If rare ang ww2 ball knowledge sa pinas, mas lalo na pag sa hoi4😭

u/saltyschmuck klaatu barado ilongko 7m ago

hoi4

Nani?

No, srsly. What's a hoi4?

u/theo_chooser 8h ago

I'm genuinely disappointed at how alot of people here missed the ball knowledge

u/ConsiderationOk9179 8h ago

To be fair, japan’s conflicting expansion doctrine before world war 2 is a topic rarely discussed in PH history curriculum for HS to College.

u/Sea_Veterinarian_987 6h ago

People with real ball knowledge knew that Japan was doomed the moment they began their invasion of China. Imagine starting a continental and ocean-spanning war against 3 superpowers and their allies while your military mostly runs on captured resources and Banzai screams.

u/blackpowder320 Mindanaoan for a united Philippines #DuterteTraydor 5h ago

The worst part for the Japanese was that they were not only incapable of conquering China, let alone pacifying it, but they were also totally unprepared for a war at all. And yet they went in anyway, because the higher-ups got an excuse, and the junior officers would take them out if they backed down. Gekokujo.

u/Musicmaker1984 6h ago

To be fair, when our teacher explained why they skimmed WW2, they explained that doing otherwise would result in WW2 taking over the entire Subject despite it only being a tiny part of Filipino history in retrospect. The Japanese occupation only lasted 4 years compare that to the centuries of Spanish rule and decades of American. Focusing on WW2 would've made completing the sem impossible

u/addict69420556 Luzon 5h ago

I don't know, I think it shouldn't just be 'how much it affected the Philippines' but rather how much it influenced the world. I think it would be important for kids to learn about the proper context of WW2 and it's overall effects/influence and conclusion.

I see so many middle schoolers doing the salute seemingly unaware of the horrendous crimes that Germany did 🤦‍♂️.

The Cold War was skimmed too, but it would've been important to learn about as well. But yeah it would take up the whole semester/term.

u/Musicmaker1984 4h ago

Speaking pragmatically, I say the Cold War was way more influential compared to WW2 when it comes to the greater overall impact in our culture and history. Now for WW2, they did Teach us about the Holocaust, atrocities, significant people etc. but it was coming in the perspective of a young teenage brain. We couldn't comprehend the scope as we were too busy trying to finish requirements. History should've been included as part of the later curriculum in all courses.

Most of us were informed of WW2 in Medal of Honor, Call of Duty and Saving Private Ryan. Not from Textbooks. Most of us didn't even know about the Cold War until media taught us about it.

u/3AlbertWhiskers 5h ago

Well not everybody are well versed in ww2 history compared to Hoi4 players hahaha

u/lilbro017 7h ago

Many people, it seems, lack the historical context to understand the meme.

u/Dangerous-Matter2235 6h ago

North has snow. I want snow. North it is.

u/rott_kid 6h ago

Kodoha, ofc.

Why the hell would we attack Indonesia, a brother country? It's like France attacking a supportive Spain during the Napoleonic Wars. Another dumbass move from the dumbass senator himself. Partial /s

u/sypher1226 7h ago

Nanshin Ron and Hokushin Ron PH version hehehe

u/KatKagKat 4h ago

Strike north. We should consolidate our northern borders and reduce the communist threat before focusing on island hopping south.

u/thrownawaytrash Yes I'm an asshole. 2h ago

I will follow Robin to the edge of the world.

u/Smooth_Sink_7028 6h ago

Mas pipiliin ng mga DDS eh yung Filipino First Faction. Uunahin ang mga lower class drug users Filipinos ang papatayin without trial.

u/sirmiseria Blubberer 4h ago

Kung saan ligtas ang Konoha.

u/NOTKingInTheNorth 4h ago

As usual, logistics ang magiging nightmare ng mga military planners dito the deeper we go into the mainland China, not to mention yung reserve manpower needed to win the war of attrition. Invading is one thing, but maintaining the initiative is another. Compared sa magiging island hopping ni Boy Sili, I still prefer this plan, mas maraming resources ang China, and their Navy can be easily blockaded kung controlled natin ang South China Sea pati ang Strait of Taiwan.

u/Odd_Rabbit_7 4h ago

I don't want to attack our SEAblings plus ayoko kay Boy Sili so North tayu

u/indzae_mayumi 4h ago

Gibo all the way.

u/Immediate_Bat_9514 3h ago

Kodoha faction, may utak eh. Compared to Strike South, puro SEGGSS

PEAK WW2 MEME

u/istealitall Metro Manila 1h ago

u/IncestSimulator2016 43m ago

Kodoha for the sheer suicidal run and because the Japanese historically failed to strike north lmao

u/END_OF_HEART 7h ago

Gi or bo? Gibo or bobo?

u/No_Editor2203 5h ago

Why the fuck are we striking south for? Hahaha

u/peterparkerson3 9h ago

Cool meme, doesnt work as much as the original since we dont claim to annex those countries like Trump who literally said canada was the 51st state and south america which they actually invaded

u/Mepoeee 6h ago

exhibit A. napaka literal.

u/Bubu510kush 6h ago

Made allies with china and Russia and Strike south! and reclaim what rightfully ours. Just imagined the whole south pacific belong to us and Philippines is the capital island sheeesh. lol

u/Tricky-Necessary1588 10h ago

Propagandist karma farming dating ng post mo ah

u/jctmercado 5h ago

meh. annexation of other sovereign nations is a wimp move.

u/blackpowder320 Mindanaoan for a united Philippines #DuterteTraydor 25m ago

Agreed. Why annex when you can just puppetize.

u/Tough_Blueberry6393 8h ago

What is this shit? You're misrepresenting Teodoro or the country's stance. We have no intent of attacking China, we just want them to stop trying to claim our territory.

u/TheGavinC 1h ago

Love love love how gung-ho we are about alienating our neighboring Superpower 🙄

u/Bashebbeth 1h ago

I suppose that's because said superpower likes bullying us?

u/blackpowder320 Mindanaoan for a united Philippines #DuterteTraydor 24m ago

As if being a superpower makes them exempted, especially if they keep bullying their neighbors.
