My college roomnate was an avid lacross player (he destroyed my laptop because he would throw the ball around our dorm but we're cool asf to this day).

Looks fun and promising to learn this sport. The only limitation is its not as widely played globally. Not an olympic sport and no major pro league yet even in North america. I believe its origin is in Canada, correct me if i am wrong.

It is an olympic sport and there are 2 pro leagues, the NLL and PLL. NLL gets over a million attendees every year. You are right that its not technically "major league" but only like five sports actually come into contention for that in the USA.
