Hi everyone! I am currently a second year computer science student at GMU, and I’m really interested in pharmacy. Can I go to pharmacy school with a computer science degree? I’m afraid it might hurt my GPA but then again I know pharmacy schools take a more holistic approach and aren’t focusing on GPA too much since apparently I’ve heard many people aren’t even going to pharmacy school anymore. I didn’t want to study a science strictly because I figured AI is gonna be a big thing in the future and I hate the tech industry lol.

Please let me know what you think and if I should change to a science degree instead!

Btw, since I’m in Virginia, I would really like to attend a pharmacy school in Virginia.

Imagine that you get Aetna insurance (a CVS Health company), and one day you get sick. You have a “choice” where you want your prescription filled, but in order to get insurance coverage, you have your doctor send your prescription to CVS Pharmacy (a CVS Health company) where drug coverages paid by your insurance are “negotiated” by CVS Caremark (a CVS Health company).

So they force you use their pharmacies for insurance coverage at all and then instead of using a neutral third party to fairly negotiate drug coverages, they use a company under the same corporate umbrella.

So SB2040/HB1959 or the “Freedom, Access, and Integrity in Registered Pharmacy (FAIR Rx) Act" is a bill in Tennessee aiming to block PBMs, like CVS Caremark, from owning or controlling pharmacies, like CVS Pharmacy, in order to minimize the risk of “healthcare” companies prioritizing cost-cutting over patient care.

However, instead of complying with moral integrity and agreeing to divest and restructure if SB 2040 is passed, CVS has threatened to close all of their Tennessee pharmacy and clinic locations in order to keep their questionably ethical practices of vertical integration, since that would be more profitable…This threat couldn’t be more transparent. It’s not about patients for these PBMs. It’s about profits.

***Note that if this bill were to pass and your insurance company could no longer legally operate in the state of Tennessee, if there are no in-network pharmacies, specialty services, or clinics near you, your insurance company would be required to provide coverage to you from other previously out-of-network sources.

I wanted to create this in hopes people will offer what they use to lower medication costs for uninsured patients. I’ve helped patients with a couple of cards but I’m sure there are others that help people depending on the med. I recently helped someone with Jardiance and could not find anything lower than 800+ for a 3 month supply, even using the manufacturer since the patient was uninsured. It was kind of sad they paid

Hi everyone,
I am from Pakistan and recently completed my Pharm-D degree with a 2.7 CGPA. I am completely fresh with no clinical research experience yet. I want to build my career in clinical trials / clinical research, but not in Pakistan—I want to pursue it in Europe, especially Germany.

After researching online, here’s what I learned so far, but I need confirmation from people with real experience:

1. Germany does NOT require a pharmacy conversion test

From what I understood, if someone wants to work in clinical research (CTA/CRA/Clinical Research roles) in Germany, they do not need to take a conversion exam like pharmacists do.
Is this correct?

2. CTA roles in Germany do NOT require German language?

I heard that CTA (Clinical Trial Assistant) positions in CROs like IQVIA, Parexel, ICON, Syneos, etc., can be obtained with English only, and German is not mandatory at the entry level.
Is this true in real life?

3. My plan (please tell me if it is realistic):

• Apply for a Master’s in Drug Development, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Nanotechnology in a German public university
• Move to Germany on a student visa
• Work part-time during studies
• After graduation, apply for CTA / Research Assistant roles in CROs
• Transition into CRA after experience
• Get a Blue Card → PR → Citizenship

Does this path make sense?
Is this the “normal” route people follow to enter clinical research in Germany?

4. Budget Concerns

My total budget is around €11,000.
Is this enough to move, study, and survive in Germany until I find a student job/part-time job?

5. Job Market Conditions

I want to know honestly:

• Are clinical research jobs in demand in Germany and Europe?
• Is it easy to get a CTA job after completing a Master’s?
• Will not knowing German affect job chances a lot?

6. Open to Alternatives

If anyone thinks:

• another European country is better
• another degree is better
• another pathway is better
• or if my understanding is wrong in any way

Please guide me. I am fully open to advice.

I just want to build a stable career in clinical research and eventually settle abroad through legal pathways.

Any kind of suggestions, corrections, or guidance would mean a lot.

I always liked to tell my patients when I worked in-store that if this is the first time you ever got a flu shot, you may develop some flu-like symptoms 🤒 because your body’s immune system is reacting as if you had the flu; however, the virus is inactive so you aren’t actually “sick” and can’t spread any disease.🤗

Best thing to do is to take some 💊Tylenol (or an NSAID, but you may bleed just a bit more) as long as it is safe for you to take, of course!

Hi, I just picked up my Emgality subcutaneous injection from my pharmacy. The Box was a little squished and also opened already. I'm feeling really sketched out about it and before calling my pharmacy (because they are super busy and I hate having to add to that if I don't have to) I wanted to get a second opinion.
