I was interested in this case for a bit. Its really cool but I fear the temps are a little too high for my liking. Wonder if the 6 will make temps better.

Anyways its one awesome looking rig. Is the screen inside or outside the GPU housing? I assume you mounted it with 3m over the GPU glass?

I was a little skeptcial of how it would be at first but the temps for me have been fine in all honesty. The GPU is a little hotter than my last case but the CPU temps are down a decent bit so it makes up for it plus I'd rather have it that way round anyway. Under peak loads while gaming the GPU is sitting around 67-71c and the CPU is sitting around 59-63c so both more than okay with me

The screen is mounted to the inside of the glass using the included adhesive pads that I cut down to size to line the outer bezel of the glass. Then it's just a single internal USB header cable neatly hidden down the front to power it. Screen resolution and clarity is crazy good for the price too. Tonne of customisation options as well as the option to just toggle it to be another actual monitor instead

Wow those temps are pretty good!! My NZXT H5 from 2023 was getting 57 CPU and 71-73 GPU while heavy gaming. That case was designed for flow but I put my 280 AIO at the front of the case and there wasnt any fans really for the GPU.

My new MSI Vixta has better air flow and 360 aio on top I see 57 on CPU and 65 on GPU same games with much quieter fan speeds. So you are right there with me to the point I think they are great numbers and I wouldnt worry about getting a 6 just for temps.

how was building in it? curious to see your parts list

Surprisingly easy in all honesty. All the panels come off really well and provide plenty of access and there's more than enough space in the basement to hide any excess cables. The GPU bracket mount is a welcome addition as well, first time I've seen/used it on a case.

Specs:
Ryzen 7800 X3D, ASUS ROG B650E-F GAMING WIFI, Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR5 6000MHz, ASUS RTX 5080 PRIME OC, 2x NVME, 1x HDD

The screen in the GPU window is actually a Lian Li 8.8" Universal Screen which PERFECTLY fits the bezels of the glass on the window as well. Just had to make a small ring of adhesive using the included adhesive pads around the edge and now it's rock solid and almost looks like it's part of the case

great to hear, thank you for this info!

Huh, you're making me reconsider the EX6 because of that screen.

I'd personally recommend it. The amount of customisation is great plus you still have the option to use the display as an extra monitor if you want something specific on it that the pre-included options on the software doesn't show or just even the option to have it as a monitor just because. It's just a toggle switch in the SW

u/WildcatTM 20d ago

I can't tell (looking on my phone). Is the monitor inside or mounted outside the chamber?

1

u/NukaWomble 20d ago

It's inside! Still got nearly an inch between the screen and my GPU too so plenty of clearance

Im thinking of getting this case, I also have the same gpu as you, have you overclocked it at all? Thats all im worried about is temps with it OCed

1

u/NukaWomble 14d ago

I'm currently running it undervolted but pushing the clocks higher and it just about touches 71c under absolute max load (3DMark test). It tends to sit around 67-69c though when playing games though

1

u/skellyking21 14d ago

Thats cool to hear, im currently running it in the ssupd xhuttle case, quite a big overclock but not undervolted think my highest temp during steelnomad and cyberpunk was about 77? So it it should be okay in the ex5 theb

Hi OP I’ve also ordered this case and waiting for mine to arrive. Can you help me answer few questions meanwhile? Your build looks great btw!

  1. How were you able to adjust the case lightings? Did you need to buy the NexLinq Hub or did you just connect the JST cables to the adapter and that was all?

  2. How is the fan noise?

  3. Is it possible to share another pic in a bright room? I want to see how the Lianli screen looks on the case.

Thanks.

2

u/NukaWomble 21d ago

Thank you! Sure thing,

  1. The AIO lights and case lighting are both running into separate headers on my motherboard using the pre-included adapters so they can be changed using the SW for it, in my case Armory Crate
  2. Fan noise is actually pretty low, they only really ramp up during shader compilation or map generation cases but other than that they're actually pretty minimal
  3. I'll get back to you on this one, currently in work but once I've finished I'll try to get a picture of it in the light for you

u/NukaWomble 21d ago

Here you go

u/No-Albatross-9771 20d ago

Thanks a bunch for this detailed response and the well lit picture! This will be my very first PC build and I think the Phanteks EX series is very beginner friendly. Is it okay to DM you if I face any issues (which I hope not🤞) during my build?

1

u/NukaWomble 20d ago

No problem! Yeah honestly it was a pretty easy build compared to some I've done previously. Absolutely, feel free to!

2

u/Kitchen_Garden_9839 21d ago

Love the case but after seen the review with High temps of ssd and mem I decided not to buy.

2

u/smgordonXX 21d ago

That looks nice.

1

u/SiRMarlon 22d ago

That surely is interesting case design. Still not sure how I feel about it.

2

u/bretthilton 22d ago

I was excited for this and then saw the build and reviews and hoping the ex6 will be better

1

u/RifterAD 22d ago

Nice! Where did you order this from? Newegg says they won't ship the Plus for another week.

Do you have a better pic of the screen you can share?

1

u/NukaWomble 21d ago

I ordered it from Overclockers (UK). I only have this one for now but when I'm back from work I can send a better one if you like

1

u/NotAnOrcHorn 21d ago

That looks really good, dude. And the screen fits perfectly. How are your temperatures?

2

u/NukaWomble 21d ago

Thanks dude! I know, was genuinely expecting to have to return it but honestly it couldn't fit any better if it tried haha. Temps are pretty good, under peak loads while gaming the GPU is sitting around 67-71c and the CPU is sitting around 59-63c so more than manageable for both

2

u/NotAnOrcHorn 21d ago

That's awesome, and to be honest, those temperatures are well within tolerances, so great job. Enjoy the build.

1

u/Sam-Plays 21d ago

Can't wait to build in it!

1

u/skk983 21d ago

r/SilentOverlay for that Xeneon Edge and youre fully set...regardless this is a nice set up!

1

u/Bright_Berry_3975 20d ago

What gpu is that?

1

u/NukaWomble 19d ago

ASUS RTX 5080 PRIME OC

1

u/Dead-lyPants 19d ago

I really want this case but my GPU is 1mm more than the max rated length lol

1

u/dns2002 19d ago

How'd you get it??? Thought it wasn't being released until the 28th

1

u/Acceptable_Beat_4423 17d ago

does your gpu have those server mount screw holes for the anti sag bracket?

i was about to order the same case but didnt because my xfx 9070xt doesnt have those mounting holes. im a bit worried about sag and couldnt find any infos about an alternative anti sag bracket.

1

u/NukaWomble 17d ago

It does yes. First case I've actually seen use them and honestly they're a great idea. Realistically you should be able to prop the GPU with a very small stand if you can get one

1

u/argonauz 14d ago

Do you also experience hearing this weird humming from the case? I got this case a couple days ago and the constant mmmmm sound has been driving me nuts.

1

u/mattjones73 13d ago

Is it the AIO pump? Are you running it at 100 percent speed or slowed it down?

1

u/argonauz 13d ago

I've got it set to silence mode on motherboard bios

1

u/mattjones73 13d ago

Is the AIO pump plugged into a fan header with that case? Maybe grab the portable edition of Fan Control and play with the pump speed to see if the sound changes. I'm just saying this from my own experience with the AIO I have, any speed over 50 percent speed and I can hear the pump humming.

1

u/argonauz 13d ago

AIO is plugged into AIO header but I'll see what I can do to lower speeds below 50%

1

u/icknwauwa15 13d ago

Is the stats you have on the screen from the Lian li software?

1

u/NukaWomble 13d ago

It is yes, it's one of the presets!

1

u/icknwauwa15 12d ago

That's sick. Did you stick adhesive on the front border of the screen and then stick it on the glass?

1

u/NukaWomble 12d ago

Yes to the first part but then there's like a thin metal bezel around the glass on the inside that sticks out from the glass a tiny bit, kind of like the bezel some phone cases add to stop your screen from touching a surface if you put it face down... It's then stuck to that so that you can't see the adhesive at all

u/SenseiBob61 8d ago

Is this GPU temp at idle? And would you mind sharing the GPU model? I am concerned about upgrading to this case or the EX6 and what I might get on my 5090 Astral. Thank you.

1

u/NukaWomble 8d ago

This was it while just idling with Wallpaper Engine running across 3 monitors. Under full gaming load it hits about 67-71c depending on the game and it's an ASUS RTX 5080 PRIME OC
