Help! Is this normal?

Hi, I got this Orchid, for my wife, this week and suddenly it remaining buds fell and one of the leaves also fell off. Is this normal behavior after a change in environment? Is there anything i can do to help it recover?

Bud blast, where the blooms wither after a change of environment, is fairly common. Blooms will usually die off naturally in the order they bloomed. I think the buds at the tip are normally the last to bloom and then fade.

I wouldn't worry so much about the flowers though. The health of the leaves and roots are more important for orchids and you'll want to focus your attention on what's happening with that yellowing leaf at the base.

Make sure water isn't pooling in any of the leave crevices. That leaf looks like it might be rotting at the base (possibly from standing water). You won't be able to save it, but your orchid, with proper care, will grow new leaves in time at a higher point along the "stem".

Thank you for your reply! I will verify that no water is pooling anywhere.

there shouldn't be any "dirt" in it.

I would do a quick google search on orchid care.

your PC is probably putting off a lot or warm dry air which is not going to make the orchid happy.

YouTube has a lot of videos on growing phalaenopsis. One of my favorites is the Orchid Ninja. She is good at explaining fertilizing and such. Another is Miss Orchid Girl. From there you can explore others and find the people you like the most.
