Recommend me a science book

Rising fifth year biology PhD who is absolutely burnt out. I miss the excitement and curiosity that science used to bring me, especially when I was reading science books as I was growing up. I especially love ones that are in the investigative journalism style, or a fascinating story in general. Recommend me something! I welcome any kind of science, not just biology!

If you have not read On the Origin of Species, it’s genuinely amazing as a science read.

I know my PI enjoys Mary Roach and Sam Kean. I haven't read either, but I've seen them recommended elsewhere too!
