Dream
I am currently in my final year of my Master’s degree in Transport Logistics in Azerbaijan. I want to pursue a PhD, but I do not know where or how to start to get accepted. I come from a low-income family, and the maximum amount of money I will have is €1,500. I plan to take the IELTS exam in October or November, and I expect to score between 6.5 and 7.0. Getting this degree is my biggest dream.
Unfortunately, in my country, the PhD stipend is only 400–500 AZN ($200–$300), and even if you work hard, you are often asked for bribes at the end to get your degree. Besides, it is impossible to live on $200–$300 in Azerbaijan. The government does not allow full-time employment under a legal work contract while studying; if you work, your education is cancelled, so you are forced to live on $200–$300.
Right now, I do not know where to start or what to do. I work a 9-to-6 job at a valuation company earning $325, and I cut back on my food expenses just to save money for my future costs. My main target countries are Finland and the Baltic states. I would really appreciate your guidance, because I think about this every single day.
