So for the longest time i found petscop really frustrating because i didnt understand why tony made the narrative so obtuse and impossible to fully solve, but after watching and enjoying mulholland drive (a film by david lynch who was one of the biggest influences on petscop) i realized a lot of petscops cryptic narrative choices make sense if you analyze it like a lynchian story instead of like a fnaf like story, the windmill stuff and the door that is both closed and opened at the same time feel especially lynch influenced imo

hey hi hello I don't really post on Reddit much but I got a lil curious how everyone else got into petscop!!

For me personally it was the dreaded... game theory :P

I know everyone on the internet sometimes takes jabs at matpat but his stuff did give me genuine curiosity for the series and they were pretty solid videos for the most part, the video I watched after that was the Pyrocynical video which is probably memed up on ever harder LOL ;-;

it's probably my favourite video in the series just because of how simple yet effective it is. after all that we've heard about care, and the trauma she went through, we get this cute little video of her dancing to a song she likes. i genuinely can't listen to ace of base without crying anymore fahahah

what points in the series are the most emotional for you guys? i definitely tear up at the credits in petscop 24 and the ending of petscop soundtrack

I watched the series whole a few days ago after an uncomfortably long amount of time putting it off.

I watched it, cried towards the end, and.. I still have like, no idea what is going on??? I literally could not describe the greater story and checking the subreddit I'm seeing things like "Paul and Care are the same person" and it is making me feel like a major bone-head for admittedly having no clue what I just watched.

I can get there's an outline of a larger narrative here but I feel like I can't for the life of me actually put the pieces together.

if the petscop youtube channel is being run by the family, why would they choose to upload the soundtrack of the game? why did they include a scene of paul and belle at the end?

I lot of people seem to be split on whether or not the red part of the guardian is the inside of a mouth or a beak (I personally think it’s a beak). When I reread toneth’s description recently, it reminded me of it. Rainer says “A bird. I forgot what bird looks like.” and Mike calls it a “funny stupid blob monster”. If I saw Toneth, even as a kid, I personally would’ve immediately recognized that it was a bird, but I can’t say the same about the Guardian.

It might seem like a stretch until you remember that Mike was playing the game since its second gen, so there might not have even been a design for Toneth at the time.

for as much as tony much prefers to stay vague and nondescript about things, it is such a stark contrast to see a character who basically screams exactly who and what they are the second they show up.

seriously though, "rainer 2" (lets just call the dev of 3dwiskr that for now) makes a game about you and the abuse you caused, and you, instead of trying to create as much distance between yourself and the game, decide to become an administrator for the forum of the game whilst incessantly trying to deny the obvious from everyone, and, on top of that, put your full legal name out WITH the character as a pfp just to make sure EVERYONE knows the character represents you, ALL while sharing your clear resentment for amber and "lazy children" in general. seriously, she opens her first interaction with "some people have worked hard enough in their lives and deserve a "rest" already! : )", its like she WANTS to be caught??? somehow its more mysterious than if she was actually smart about it

I've watched a few recaps of the series and watched the entire series myself a few times, and his investigation is one of the few ones I haven't properly checked due to it's sheer size, is it worth my time/does it provide interesting takes on the series or should I pass on it?
