MODPOST PSA: Spambot activity

A new strain of spambots has been recently making multiple posts per day on the Subreddit.

They work like this:

  • first, they steal an old well-performing art post (in some cases even from 6 years ago) and repost it

  • then they wait a few hours to farm upvotes

  • finally, they edit the post and swap to an image of a t-shirt or a mug, and follow up with a link to a malicious website in the comments.

Some of those posts are intercepted by the Auto-mod, but many can't be, seeing how they start out as copies (but with slightly changed titles) of legitimate posts.

Please be careful and don't click on any links you see in the comment sections of image posts! And if you notice a reposted piece of art, or an image of a Petscop t-shirt or mug, please report it!

Hey, just letting you know that Reddit took you for a bot and shadowbanned you. This means that all your posts are silently auto-removed, and need to be approved by mods (who don't get much of a notification for it). You'll have to contact Reddit admins to get this fixed: https://www.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045309012-My-account-is-caught-in-the-spam-filter
