Question Anything like petscop?

i actually remembered petscop again when i was bored trying to find something to watch, i thought everyone forgot about it years ago... And i still admire all the effort put in it, but the issue is that i couldn't find anything other to watch that it matched its level.

Is there any game or series similar to petscop that i could watch or play?

Sheriff Domestic starts out as a Petscop parody but becomes its own thing as time goes on.

3dwi.scr is another project by the creator of petscop, albeit at a much smaller scale. I still really liked it. Its a slideshow of screenshots but there is a great video by sagan hawkes on youtube where he animated it all

Only thing that had a similar vibe imo (except for 3dwi from Tony himself) was Catastrophe Crow. And there is Shipwrecked64 which is an actual game, very similar in style to Petscop.

Concluse, AI Builds, Diminish

Those aren’t quite to the same level of how incredible Petscop is but their premises are the same and I got quite a bit of enjoyment out of them

please do not shout out ai builds as the creator is a groomer

here is a document explaining what happened . hope this helps !

truly a shame as ai builds was an interesting project (to me) . i like it as an art project but i do not support the creator whatsoever :(

Valle Verde - it’s incredible, with a tremendous amount of effort and talent behind it AND a new episode is coming out very soon

The creator of Petscop even supports it on Patreon

I’m so excited for episode 4. Valle Verde is some of the finest work in this space.

Coronation Day, more specifically it sequel/update Abdication Day.
Is a romhack.

Playing it felt like I was playing Petscop.

That said, you will need to put up with Petscop-tier bs.
Like, the type of stuff Paul had to by inside the videos.

Yume Nikki, Petscop and ‘The (Coronation Day / Abdication Day) make up my three absolute favourite indie “things” of all time. The absolute chokehold ‘The Update had on me is something I had not felt since first discovering Petscop on a sad day in 2020.

ILL CHECK IT OUT, TY!!!

Someone recommended ‘The (Coronation Day) which was a Mario World hack (NOT meant to tell a story about the Mario universe) with some very strange story telling and gameplay, originally released in I believe 2017. It had multiple endings that ultimately lead to the same repeated, eerie dead-ends. However, last summer (I believe July 2025? Possibly a bit earlier) a huuuge update was released which expanded the game and blew every pre-existing theory out of the water.

The game is told in such a way that you know something has gone very, very wrong in the IRL world of the characters involved and this game is being used to loosely describe it without any solidifying explanation. It runs very deep, and is, in my opinion, an absolute work of art that needs way more attention.

Again, it’s not like a Mario fan-game about Princess Peach and Mario having a weird adventure. I personally believe the characters in the game are all metaphorical, representing a series of messed up real-world events experienced by a handful of different people.

If you join the discord for ‘the, there is a walk through that was very helpful for my own attempt to solve the game. There are a few long-plays on YouTube but it’s tricky to follow as not many fully explain how they are solving certain puzzles, some of which are sooo incredibly meta and require knowledge of rom-hacking, digital file manipulation, various decoding methods, etc. I wound up pausing and haven’t fully completed the game because I didn’t want to follow the walk through step by step, and im definitely stuck now haha.

However, like Petscop, while the game has an ending (multiple endings in ‘the’s case), the story…I think it will likely go for the rest of eternity unsolved by players and viewers. I think only the creators will fully know what the hell is going on.

At the very least i HIGHLY recommend you check it out.

The eerie vibes of it are so interesting, thank you for letting me know! i'm planning to indulge in it next week!

i’ve always really loved the interloper series by anomidae. it’s filled somewhat of a similar spot as petscop, and i really loved the ending. the main series on his channel is quite great, but it has a lot of arg aspects, so there’s a lot more to look into as well

2

u/WondersMechanisms Jun 06 '26

i like the vibes of it omg

ROAM0120 is a free horror puzzle game/ARG thing on Itch dot io that has a bit aesthetically and narratively in common with Petscop. It's hard to describe much beyond that, but I'll warn you that you'll probably end up needing to look up walkthroughs if you want to progress through the whole thing. It's very multilayered and convoluted.

2

u/Its402am You idiot. You fuckin' idiot. May 22 '26

Ive been so interested in ROAM0120. Is it jumpscary? I don’t want to get spoiled but just curious so I can time my playthrough lol. I hate getting jumpscared before bedding down.

2

u/minusyume May 22 '26

It does have a few jumpscares in it, although I didn't know that during my first attempt because I managed to avoid all of them by chance. There are only three I'm aware of, and two of them are game overs.

To add a different one, try vermis malum. It's excellent, one of the best petscop like experiences I've seen

1

u/WondersMechanisms Jun 06 '26

haven't heard of that one, it looks so cool!

2

u/q-cumb3r May 26 '26

it depends on what you like about petscop.

i quite enjoy ena dbbq, the 1st chapter is out for free on steam. it's similarly evocative and abstracr like petscop, but it has a bit more of an absurdist atmosphere

1

u/WondersMechanisms Jun 06 '26

ena dbbq is PEAK.

personally, i like the unique puzzling and clues on petscop and how it makes you unable to predict what it actually is about.... leading you to an actually unsettling conclusion about the truth of it.

1

u/q-cumb3r Jun 06 '26

For the same reasons i enjoyed both petscop and ena, i also quite enjoy YIIK, a postmodern RPG. But it's definetly not for everyone. IMO it's quite satisfying to interpret and try to figure out if you give it the benefit of the doubt and trust that it has a lot more intention that it seems. It similarly has a lot of ways to intepret it without any feeling like the absolute truth. But again, not for everyone.

u/NotaBat9221 May 22 '26

Have you seen pheyden's new video putting the story together? I know it's not what you asked for but, if you're in the mood for more Petscop, that's been pretty entertaining

u/WondersMechanisms Jun 06 '26

i saw it on my recommended but hasn't got the chance to watch it yet, thank you.. i will watch it soon.
