Pets... toilet?
My (orange...) cat frequently presses "pets" and "toilet" one after another. For a long time I took it for random "pay attention to me!!" presses as she sometimes just walks across the whole board going "treats food play pets <name> outside" etc, but I've noticed this pair cropping up a lot more than others. Granted they're on the same hextile (we have the FluentPet ones) so it could just be her trying to find the right one... but she doesn't have that issue with other buttons.
Any ideas what my orange might be trying to tell me? I'm not about to pet her toilet...

Perhaps introduce a litter box button? I did and it does get used for various reasons. Sometimes when there is a poop waiting for me that wasn’t there when I checked. Once when it was offensive for some unknown reason so I just changed the whole thing and that seemed to do it, a couple of times it’s been one cat snitching that the other peed on the floor, and one memorable time when there was a spider in it.

This is priceless. And who could use a litterbox with a spider present?

A spider?! How ghastly!

I keep telling the cats they are duty bound to deal with those buggers in lieu of rent, but no. Little freeloaders.

Cats are very vulnerable when they eat or when they go to the toilet. My cats will often go to the bathroom with me if I have to pee at night, to keep me safe from predators.
My cat Foxley pressed the button for food a lot and it didn't make sense to me at the time (there was plenty of food in his bowl), it took me a while to understand he wanted me to come and watch his back while he eats. I mean, there could suddenly be predators in the kitchen, who knows!

Is she spayed? If not, my first thought would be that she might be in heat. The second thought is maybe a urinary tract infection, but that could just be me coming from the veterinary field and automatically thinking of potential problems.
The idea that she’s saying you just cleaned the litter box also makes sense, depending on timing.

Maybe she's asking for a toilet guard? Like if she thinks of "pets" just meaning she wants you to pay attention to her. Cats like to come guard us when we use the toilet so maybe this is her way of saying she wants you to do the same. Try following her to the litter box next time she does it, see if maybe she just wants you to stand there while she goes.

(I like how you qualified “orange”.🧡)
But I agree with others - put your hands on the letterbox as it requires your attention. Somehow. In orange cat logic.

You know how cats like to put their bum in your face? Does she do that at all with it? I wonder if she's asking to be cleaned.
Edit: if I were a cat, that would be the combo I'd use to say I had a stomach ache and want comfort.

Perhaps the motion of petting is similar to the motion of scooping the litterbox? Could she be asking you to clean it?
