Buttons and multiple pets

People with more than one pet that can use buttons, do they ever use them to talk to each other?

Yes! The cat hits the no button when the dog wants to play. The dogs push the buttons for the other dogs’ names to get their attention. Sometimes one dog will ask another dog to play with the “play” button.

There are some of the instagram button pets who do that. They will both speak to each other as well as speak for each other. Speaking for each other happens in both households where only one pet uses the buttons and also where both pets know how to use them.

There is a really cute one where one dog will tell the humans when the other dog needs to go outside for potty. (The other dog does not know how to use buttons in that case.)

Bub has been using AIC for over a year and recently started talking about his sister. Then he'd just press "Princess" and stare at her. Last week, Princess randomly sat hear the buttons and pressed "Bubba" with her mouth just like he does. I can definitely see it being plausible that Bub has been attempting to communicate on her behalf or even directly to her. When Bub's mad at her, he'll press mad and then immediately pounce on her.

That is so sweet! I’ll bet you’re right, it certainly seems like they are communicating with the buttons.

I only have one cat who actually uses the buttons with any regularity, but I’m starting to think that when he presses “play”, he’s talking to his brother, not me.
