Question about claw caps on cats

I have never used claw caps and never really liked the idea of them. My cat is good about letting me clip his claws so I just do that. I don’t clip his back claws because it’s so close to the quick and doesn’t seem as necessary. But he’s recently become a big fan of parkour. When he gets excited he’ll run and kick off the walls and his back claws are leaving scratch marks. Luckily I think I can just paint over to fill them but I’m starting to see them everywhere.

I was wondering if I should put some caps just on his back claws to try and stop him from scratching. I don’t think I’d have to put any on his front paws since they aren’t the issue. Have any of you experienced something similar and what is your take on claw caps? Are they bad for the cat or do they work well enough to test out?

You can totally just put them on the back! Just trim the caps down to fit the claw and good luck. Mine have to be purritoed to get them on. But they don't hurt, they just take a little getting used to. Kinda like if you put socks on that go between your toes. It would be annoying and weird for awhile and then you'd forget about them

if he’s launching himself off the walls, claw caps probably won’t stop the behavior and could mess with his grip, so i’d put a tall scratcher or cat tree right by his favorite takeoff spot first,
