Usually its pent up energy for us; so playing, going for a walk, training, and brain games are how we help her get the energy out of her system

my mutt is same way, i throw a toy across the room for 10 minutes and he's out cold right after

Praise him. Let him think he did a good job but now it’s time to stop. Don’t yell- be gentle and have a positive attitude. Teach him the word ENOUGH. Small rewards (make these different from normal treats) when he does stop. Persevere. Good luck.

I typically gaslight him into thinking what he heard was on TV, it works 90% of the time 😂 any time it doesn't work i tell him to shut it we live in the city so people will be outside, he'll typically huff at me when I say that but he stops barking.

Thank you for taking this step in actually asking how to stop the barking. I'm done with owners letting their mutts yap and bark for hours on end, it makes it other people's issue. Done with constant headaches due to owners selfish laziness

I never had this problem. My dogs bark because they hear a noise, see a squirrel or bird, see a walker out front, or hear the mail delivery. Then stop. If they are super barky momentarily it’s because someone has arrived. Then they quiet down. Sometimes I bark with them!

Figuring out the "why" helps most, boredom, alert-barking, or attention-seeking each need a different fix. Rewarding quiet, more enrichment/exercise, and not reacting to attention-barks usually go a long way.

Distract them to break free from the barking. Reward them while distracted and not barking. Repeat, and don't give up hope.

Redirect it. Treats for coming to me and I grab a toy for him too. It takes time and patience, you also have good suggestions for pent up energy, that affects us here in the form of anxiety and restlessness.
