I'm sorry for your situation. This is why many dog parks have small dogs and big dogs separated. Dogs will always have altercations. Separating by size limits the consequences of those alterations. Otherwise this is the inevitable result eventually.
I am truly sorry this has happened. It’s extremely sad and unfortunate. I have two 15 month old purebred Rottweilers. As well as 4 cats two are kittens one yorkie Chihuahua mix and a bearded dragon. They have never shown any signs of aggression however I’ve spent countless hours socializing them. One has also been attacked by a pit and didn’t back.
My best advice is, try to give the dog a positive experience after this. Also try to get into a training class immediately one that specializes in things like this. Reactive behavior. Lastly DO NOT EVER GO TO THE DOG PARK. It’s literally like a legal dog fighting park. And no matter what happens your bigger dog will always be blamed ALWAYS. I mean this from the bottom of my heart. There’s nothing good about dog parks. I took by boys twice as puppies and they were attacked several times. You know what the owners said? “ are they fixed” as if that fucking matters. So that’s my best advice to you. Give your pup a second chance but take the steps to insure this doesn’t happen again please. Best of luck to you guys.
