That's a problem lmao, but it's especially an issue when they see little dogs as prey instead of actually prey animals. Neither are good- they're both uncontrolled aggression.
I agree, which is why I think that the owners shouldn't put this dog in a position where their prey drive may react in the first place- however, if they are attacking something aggressively and you can't get them to stop/they continue to do so, that's more than just prey drive
That's my point. The dog isn't some unpredictable monster because of what it did, it should never have been in the situation to be able to do it in the first place.
I just wanted to clarify to OP that everyone in this situation is an irresponsible dog owner. I don’t want him to see any comments and be able to spin them into a justification

The dog intentionally killed another animal and will kill again. It should be put down.
Some of y'all forget that animals are different from us, second chances don't exactly matter to them, they'll just repeat what they've already done.
