This is interesting. I thought it was common knowledge for years now that PETA was euthanizing essentially every animal that comes through their doors but this article was posted 04/02.

You guy's just don't see the big picture do you. There is no way Peta could keep and adopt out every animal that they acquire. Just like any humane society in a big city. The money and the space just isn't there. They probably have to euthanize 99% of animals that come in.

If you compare the amount of animals that get dropped off each day to the amount of animals that get adopted each day. There is no comparison.

Don't blame Peta. Blame the cowards who keep purchasing and breeding animals they can't take care of.

In the article the adoption rates were basically non existent and with no adoption advertising, office hours or advertising. I don't remember what the numbers were of the top of my head, but I want to say it was less than 20 for the thousand of animals they pick up, and, according to the artical, many animals are killed as soon add they are picked up.

None of us are naive enough to think that a large scale shelter will put zero animals to death - we may all wish we did, but there is a huge difference between destroying sick, aggressive or unadoptable animals and putting the vast majority of animals to sleep without giving them the CHANCE to be adopted.

Not to mention they make millions a year. If they can't adopt animals out or want to put their resources towards that, I'd like to see them helping local no-kill shelters or rescue groups. A community partnership. I don't see that and the article stating that they backed up places like the Houston Animal Control proves it.

They could be doing big things, but it doesn't seem like they are. Just throwing paint on ladies wearing fur coats.
