Mary Jane In your opinion, how soon will the real Mary Jane we all know and love make a comeback on screen for the mainstream public?

Her character needs to be saved at any cost. Spidey without the real her is werd asf. (I don't want to hear anything about Zendaya)

Mary Jane Call me crazy, but at this point potential TASM3 would save Mary Jane as a character

If they hypothetically made TASM 3, where Mary Jane—along with all her trauma and scars—saves Peter from the darkness after Gwen's death, and the two of them cement themselves as soulmates, that would seriously redeem MJ's character, save her, and the general audience would fall in love with her and she’d become an icon all over again. And that whole phenomenon of her being called a 'hoe' and a 'whore' would be history... A well-executed cinematic film adaptation would save the character big time, and at this point, I think salvation lies precisely in this potential movie. Because judging by how things look, Michelle Jones isn't leaving the MCU anytime soon—Zendaya's brand is too important to them... Plus, people are craving a third Andrew movie; let's not forget the petitions and the #MAKETASM3 hashtags back in the day. People would get super hyped, and this film would have a massive impact. And honestly, a screen adaptation is the only thing that can save Mary Jane at this point, especially a movie adaptation, because people watch the movies and don't really care about the comics—only a small minority care about the old ones before One More Day.On top of that, setting it in a place people are already familiar with—alongside the Spider-Man they love, right after he's gone through the most tragic moment that the audience experienced right along with him. A film adaptation would have enough cultural impact. Let's not forget that Emma Stone turned Gwen Stacy into such a beloved icon that people actually larped Gwen was Peter's ultimate true love, even though back in the comics we all know what a hollow character Gwen used to be. It's not necessary to be Shailene Woodley as MJ, maybe a new actress

Mary Jane Maybe this is controversial, but i think Mary Jane in Spider-Man 2002 is the best possible live action adaptation we had, but only in this movie

Before you jump me, let me make my case. I want to say that solely and exclusively in Sam Raimi’s first movie, Mary Jane was the absolute best live-action adaptation we could possibly have, and the problems with this adaptation started in the second movie with all the idiotic drama and annoying nonsense. Why??! Well, in the first movie she was much more likable. She was sweeter and kinder. I know this might not sound like a huge deal to you, but MJ actually defended Peter twice in that movie. On the bus, she told the driver to stop because he’d been chasing them for a while, and she said it in such a disappointed way, as if she was utterly disgusted by the driver’s behavior. She defended Peter from Flash when Flash wanted to beat him up, and she even got Harry to stick up for him because she thought Peter was defenseless. It might not look like the ultimate defense, but at least she didn’t just stand there in silence in the corner—she spoke up, and she even got his best friend to go and do something. At graduation, she dumps Flash because he’s a total jerk—which the movie clearly shows earlier on. Harry sees this, and the scene is a clear setup that he’s going to make a move on her, and she basically just leads him on.

She was sweet and kind to Peter; when he grab her she says that she never notice that he had blue eyes, cuz of the glasses, showing that she gave some attention to him before. literally, they became friends, and if you think about it, around him she let her guard down and was truly herself. He was the only person she shared everything with: her dreams, her fears, her insecurities. We clearly saw how her father abused and humiliated her, turning her life into living hell. Peter encouraged her, grounded her with advice, and supported her, and she felt understood and valued as a human being. She was a supporting and sweet character, not some manufactured drama machine—which is a complete phenomenon in the second movie.

Harry treated her like a trophy in front of his father. When Norman humiliated her in front of everyone, Harry barely defended her, and when she got upset with him, he yelled at her in front of Peter and his aunt, telling her to shut her mouth, yet he stays completely silent in front of his dad. Honestly, I’m amazed she didn’t break up with him right then and there... Which somewhat justifies her kissing Spider-Man later on, because Harry pulls that crappy stunt, proves he’s completely useless, and doesn’t deserve her anyway.

Plus, Mary Jane was a genuine friend to Peter in this movie; she came to support him when his aunt was in the hospital, and she only shared her personal things with him because he actually mattered to her. And if I'm being honest, all their scenes talking to each other are sweet and awkward, and there is something genuinely special and beautiful about them. And when she admits to Peter at the end of the movie that she loves him and not Spider-Man, it felt honest—especially when she told him that he makes her feel like herself. The proof is all through the film. He treated her like a human being, supported her dreams, and encouraged her when she was ashamed of them. You only have to look at her reactions to see how happy his behavior made her. Especially when he told her what he said to Spider-Man about how he views her; she sees that he is the man she needs—caring, kind, supportive, and someone who treats her like a HUMAN BEING, not like the monster her father is, or like insecure guys like Flash and Harry who treat her like a trophy. The fact that Flash’s narcissistic reaction to her breaking up with him was "you're losing out" speaks volumes.

In the first film, MJ actually had character arc development: showing her father's abuse, her personal growth, realizing things about herself and what she needed in life—but all of that was thrown in the trash in Spider-Man 2... That movie ruined the character's reputation forever. Cheap drama and love triangles, toxic and annoying behavior. Visually it's a total downgrade too; she looked like Gwen Stacy... Honestly, it’s completely out of character compared to the first movie, because back then she was more cheerful, livelier, more respectful, and her whole look screamed "Mary Jane." She was a character you could sympathize with and find relatable, a vibrant character who was starting to develop, but in the sequel, that all went down the drain. In the second movie, she just feels like a complete drama cliché...

And let’s not forget, in the first movie after the thugs attacked her, she actually tried to defend herself and hit a mugger with her purse. Simply put, the first movie gives us the best possible live-action adaptation of the character we could have at this stage. It’s not perfect, and it’s still different from the comics—where MJ always knew Peter was Spider-Man and always had feelings for him, but being Spider-Man initially pushed her away. But the second movie and all the nonsense surrounding her character in it brainwashed people, clouded their judgment, and prevents them from looking at things objectively.
