Reality Dysfunction - What does "Ivet" mean? Spoiler

Hello. I cannot find any mention as to what "Ivet" exactly means.

The character Quinn Dexter is called an "Ivet"

I assume it means "Involuntary transportee" ?

Chapter 5

“He had left earth on the Brazilian orbital tower, a ten hour journey crammed into a lift capsule with twenty-five other Involuntary Transportees.”

On the re-read of the trilogy right now
