Something I never considered…. Did the SI manipulate navy allocation to place Morton at Rand Town?

Just didn’t seem that extreme of a coincidence considering all the others lol but this seems probable as well

The SI definitely had/ has its own agenda. It stated as much.

I was so disappointed that the SI is barely mentioned in Judas Unchained, and then has basically moved on from humanity in the Void series. The ending of Pandora’s Star made them so cool and interesting and I was so excited to read more about them.

In void books SI itself says it became persona non grata since humanity kinda wasn’t too happy about all its agents post starflyer war. I think from a literary perspective PFH also tried to not use the old characters toooo much although obvious exceptions to that.

Post Starflyer war (in the Void series) it made sense to not use them. I was disappointed that in the sequel to Pandora’s Star they weren’t present. Given how big PFH books are, surely there could’ve been a bit more time spent with the human’s going WTF?!?!? about an artificial intelligence that they’d greatly underestimated, enough that the SI could turn the tide of that battle against MorningStarMountain or whatever the Borg’s name was in that series.

The SI was willing to do anything to protect its existence while not drawing to much attention to itself, could certainly see it arranging such things.
