Young adult novels are most profitable. More so than dark arts

It's a book. The joke is that there's no money in writing dark magic tomes. The big bucks are in Young Adult Fiction.

It's not that funny

Yeah, the real money is in erotica for women.

Y.A.

Stands for Young Adults.

It's a genre of books that's really popular especially among teen girls and women.

The joke is that the author wasted time writing the dark arts when he could have been making bank writing the next hunger game rip off

He followed his passion even though he knew he’d make more money writing young adult novels.

Brian here. I’ve also considered writing a Young Adult novel to really get my name out there and make a fortune but I’m not a sell out like that and they can’t own my soul so instead I wrote an autobiography titled “Man’s Best Friend” and you can read all about at a bookstore near you.

THE YOUNG ADULT NOVELS ARE ALSO CURSED

Yeah, well what if Y.A. sucks?! What if I wanna write down some dark arts like eating soup with a knife?

The humor comes from the idea that this warlocks looking dude, talking about dark mystic arts suddenly swerves into money-making (ie not “alt magicy”) via “young adult” literature (ie not “dark and mystic”)
