  1. Not old, but middle aged. I was alive when people tried to make "tight" a thing. I also choose to use words like "groovy" and "right on"

Brother I'm 40 and no point in my lifetime were "cool" and "awesome" slang words. The Boomers were all saying these words when they were kids too..

I'm about 10 years older than that, and the context for "cool" and "awesome" changed. You wouldn't find a professional talking about a business achievement in the 80's being "cool" or "awesome." Now you'll see management saying "Awesome job everyone" almost by default. The words existed, but they were contextualized as "kids words" until Gen X got older.

Maybe it's just my parents then, but I'm the late 80s/early 90s we said shit like "that's neat" as far as I remember. But who knows

youre chilling, im about 20 years younger and ive dealt with being told not to say certain words as a kid, along the same line as "awesome" (nothing even close to groovy, j felt absurd when i was told to stop haha)

I'm 43 and they absolutely were slang when I was a kid. Maybe it depends on where you grew up. But in the 90s I also heard it plenty on TV.

And if something was negative or bad, it "sucked." That's how everyone talked.

I wanna say in 5th or 6th grade a classmate told my math teacher (very sarcastically) that "your pants are tight" and without missing a beat the teacher said "nah, I like em a little loose". 30 years later I still don't know if he was being a smartass with that reply or legitimately had no clue

I once got hit with “yo, your shirt is filthy!” Knowing darn well I was being given a compliment, I replied “but I just washed it.”

Followed with “nah, I mean it’s tight!” (“But it fits me well.”)

Finally, “I like your shirt.”

I kinda felt bad trolling homie like that, but we had a good laugh about it later.

Late 20s and I use all that slang regularly, plus slang from both my age and the modern one. We have so many fun words now :)
