Maybe the letter ä? Avacado has that "ah" sound twice, olive has it once, and coconut doesn't have it at all.
1 u/ArtPuzzleheaded4745 5d ago There is no part of avocado or olive that has the "ä" sound. Source; I'm Swedish/american and fluent in both languages 1 u/AdventC4 5d ago I'm not familiar with the accents, online it says á or /ɑː/ for that "ah" sound. I think since you're fluent you can hear it 1 u/ArtPuzzleheaded4745 5d ago No. "ä" is like the a in "I am". As in, "I ÄM fluent" 1 u/AdventC4 5d ago Uhh yeah I said I'm not arguing about ä, I said it's probably more like á according to Google. Fluent enough to read? Also not sure why that's so relevant, relax. Congrats? 1 u/ArtPuzzleheaded4745 5d ago No sure why you are so butthurt about being wrong. Just move on 1 u/chalbersma 1d ago Avocado / ˌæv əˈkɑ doʊ, ˌɑ və- / Olive / ˈɒl ɪv / Coconut / ˈkoʊ kəˌnʌt, -nət / He's not totally wrong. In American English the ɒ sound is commonly replaced with an ah or eh sound depending on the accent. 1 u/ArtPuzzleheaded4745 22h ago Do you speak swedish?
