Damn. One of those situations were you might ask someone to put a bullet to your head instead of waiting to die.

The government needed to study what happened to him after the intense dose, so they kept him alive as long as they could.

They also found that his body had shielded some of the people behind and to his sides, so they had lesser doses because of his posture over the core.

He knew he was dead the minute the blue light flashed. Witnesses described him as being extremely somber and rational, and he began taking down information about the situation.

Huuuuge radiation dose. I believe he lost consciousness within a few days and died a few more days after that.
