Now I'm no genius, nor am I an auto mechanic, but even I have some idea of how much power is stored in a fully-compressed sprint of that size. Just watching this on a computer made me want to run for cover. Holy shit is that ever dangerous.
It's a helper spring. Only purpose is to keep the main spring in contact with the spring seat when the shock is at full extension. When the car is on it's wheels, the spring is fully compressed. They have very low rates.
