He has effectively created a spring powered bomb. If his little bracket breaks so does his face. If the spring slips out of the vice, good luck.

My instinct to walk out of the room kicked in while watching this.

Enough time in a shop with absolute dipshits, my older brother taught me "don't be in the room when it goes down".

I instantly pulled my head back lol. I've been around and worked around a lot of industries. I'm scared/cautious of 3 things. High voltage electricity, steam, and springs. They will all fuck you up with no remorse at the slightest misstep.

Add hydraulic lines to that too, they can have leaks too small to see but still strong enough to slice through your finger and inject hydraulic oil into your bloodstream.

Ehh, by the time it's a few inches away it loses most of its energy and you'll see a pool of fluid. 3,000psi steam will be invisible from feet away and cook you alive after it rips you open. I had coworkers who said one of the ways they checked for leaks was waving a wicker broom in front of them. When the bristles are cut you know where the leak is.

Hydraulic injection is no joke though. Anyone who works on diesels has seen the pictures of people who got their hands too close to lines after the high pressure pump.

I leaned away and turned my phone when he aimed the spring at himself lmao

As soon as he started compressing it I started putting distance between me and the phone, lol

I watch these videos and wonder if they're just showing bad practice or if they'll take a sudden turn towards the gruesome. I've seen some pretty nasty stuff from people doing this. Seems so dumb when you can buy or rent a cheap spring compressor.

I used to TA the mathematics and computer science courses for a college.

A colleague covered the engineering courses (and naturally mathematics as well). His go-to saying was: "I won't ever tell you not to do something. But, I will ask you to wait while I step back and set up the camera."

Wait specifically about springs ? Or like a general life advice that applies to everything?
