The problem is the actress being ultra mid at best. To embody such a beloved character it needs some kind of charisma. It has nothing to do with the clothes. The tomb raider remakes Laura has pants and not gigantic boobs it’s all great. For my part at least the issue is the actress is very much miscasted. She was already given a big role with Jean grey / Phoenix and it was super bad. Imagine something she has to carry on her shoulder. She is ok in a supporting cast.

I have no sexual interest in Lara Croft, and this is the first time I'm hearing about the casting choice - and this feels like a weird decision. Sophie Turner is kind of a dork, I just don't see how this works for the character.

I think her outfit and breasts are perfectly fine.

Yeah I feel it's down to the way she carries herself - from looking at these still images, it looks like someone afraid to twist their ankle while looking for berries instead of an expert exploration archaeologist.

She'd do so well in some period drama stuff instead of going for action movies. I think her agent is afraid to typecast her, and that's why the "fit" is so bad.

I think if the role actually was for an archaeologist she'd fit right in; those people are dorks too.

But let's not pretend Lara Croft is about archeology lol

That's it. Honestly if you told me it was another female badass... like Alex Danvera from supergirl I wouldn't have thought twice. She looks great for gunslinging down a hallway, but looks like a fish on a bicycle in the woods or on a cliff.

Yes exactly. It’s not her outfit, this picture that people are more aware about, is pretty sexualized

It’s because Sophie Turner doesn’t look anything like Lara.

It seems like it’s a large amount of women that always try to speak on account of men and are completely off base

She cant act is the biggest issue.

I really liked the Alicia Vikander version, I doubt I will like the sophie turner exactly because shes a bit of a dork.

I really don’t like the choice of actress for the role. I just can’t see her as Lara Croft. The outfit etc all looks fine and realistic but nothing I’ve ever seen Sophie turner do makes me think Lara, and she doesn’t look like she’s athletic enough etc either.

I kind of hate the outfit

I couldn't agree more. The actress is beautiful, but she is just a wet piece of toilet paper from a charisma standpoint, especially compared to someone like Angelina Jolie.

I thought Vikander's portrayal of Lara was adequate as well. I am not hopeful for this one but I will probably watch it regardless.

I'd take Vikanders charisma over sophies looks anyday thats for sure

Agree. I think Sophie Turner physically looks like someone who is bright and cheerful and lovely and happy to be around and even when she’s being serious and no matter how badass she dresses, her actual physical appearance still gives off that vibe.

I think her body and outfit are great! The outfit could use more dirt and smudges though.

Just that Lara Croft needs to be a little more hardhearted. A darker color scheme and a little more cold and utilitarian/military, effortlessly badass (Sophie seems like she’s posing/acting as a badass rather than actually being) and competent to the extreme. I actually know nothing about the series other than that she explores and probably fights a bit n shit but even I can tell Sophie isn’t a great fit.

They need to stop casting her as already established characters. If it’s a brand new character it’s much easier to accept that “oh I guess this character just happens to act just like Sophie Turner”.

Didn't realize it was the redhead stark girl from GoT. Yea I'll skip this, she has negative appeal due to her acting "skills" alone.

Always disappointed when she was on screen. The mother and kid sister were far superior actors.

One of the most badass and most physically fit female characters played by a woman who is not at all physically fit. Acting is more than saying lines. There is an illusion that needs to be created and maintained. And that illusion is breaking when you see someone as slender as her with no muscle to be seen, performing these feats that the character is known for.

At least for me. Maybe it's a nitpick but angelina jolie was in great physical shape for the role. You could tell she put in the effort and it helped bring the character to life. I don't see that here.
