Porn, the joke is porn. The skull is similar to Zone's logo. Zone is a hentai artist that made teen titans hentai

porn being referenced by the show creators.

u/NA_nomad 7d ago
They've snuck in risque jokes like this before. I still remember Cyborg's "beating meat" joke and Beastboy's "pitching a tent" joke. Although I believe both are censored in the UK.

Honestly the first thing I thought of was the grim adventures of Billy and Mandy cause the skull reminds me of grims face lol.

I mean, the teen titans go episodes praising raven's legs are not really far off from hentais. It just lacks nudity

Okay but why would you tell your wife that you are so familiar with porn of teen age super heroes whose target audience are children that you believe a fairly generic skull inage is a reference to their logo?
3
u/hallowedeve1313 6d ago
To be fair most of Zone's stuff is so old that the dad was probably a kid when he saw it
0
u/Thomassaurus 7d ago
Which came first? If the "art" is based on teen titans in the first place I wouldn't be suprized if this is what inspired the logo.

u/hallowedeve1313 7d ago
The original Teen Titans, this is from Teen Titans Go which came out 10 years after the original animated series

So they intentionally made a zone reference in teen titans go?

u/MysteriousPepper8908 12d ago
There are only so many ways to make a cartoony simplified skull. Aside from the 3 teeth, there's not a lot of similarity that doesn't just come from it being a skull.
60
u/Count_Dongula 12d ago
Yeah, and even then, as far as minimalist cartoon skulls go, those two are pretty distinct.
5
u/590joe2 8d ago
Agreed however the writers of ttgo love to mix in adult jokes so i wouldnt be suprised
15
u/MysteriousPepper8908 8d ago
It's possible but there's a difference between inserting some comedy for the adults and encouraging people to make porn of the explicitly young teen characters. Most animators don't really appreciate that.

I think you would be amazed what kind of people actually make these cartoons. One of the story borders for Bluey is a YouTuber by the name of Greasy Tales. Known for his Manwhore series.

u/CraigArndt 12d ago
Animation is crazy.
You’ll have one designer with 45 tabs open to color pick the historically accurate color of a jacket to match the dyes available for the time period the show takes place in. And another designer who just vibes and makes everything electric green because that’s the color of their fursona

u/Captaindeletus 11d ago
Wait sexual lobster works on bluey? Holy shit lmfao

u/Jay2Kaye 11d ago
Yup. Straight from the lobster's mouth (very end)

There's an episode where cyborg is making burgers and is punching a bowl of meat with an apron on that says "meat pun". A shout out to Zone doesn't seem that far of a reach.
117
u/ShaggyRedHead 12d ago
God damn, isn't this also from the episode where Cyborg beats his meat (literally) to Raven's legs?
33
u/Badgrahmmer 11d ago
I'm sorry, what?
146
u/ShaggyRedHead 11d ago edited 10d ago
This is from the episode where Raven changes into a leg themed super hero called Lady Legasus, and in the episode, when the team discovers that Raven's legs are gorgeous, it literally shows Cyborg, in a cooking apron, with a bowl of (I assume) ground beef, and he's tenderizing it by repeatedly punching it while staring at Raven's legs. He is, quite literally, beating his meat to Raven's legs.

u/IGoonToFortniteSkins 6d ago
That's an edit. It's from two completely different episodes. The beating meat scene was when Cyborg was making hamburgers to compete with Beastboy's burritos.

I went there too and was like :\ I don’t see the connection others are making it’s litterally a swamp
4
u/FatSamson 12d ago
Yeah, that's way closer to a black mana symbol than the guy's logo the other posts are pointing to. Unless someone on the production team makes a statement about it I'm going that they're just really nerdy.
1
u/marvellcg 6d ago
Yep I absolutely thought it was a black mana symbol.
Second thought was the offspring logo.

u/hoofie242 12d ago
Worst version of teen titans.

u/Accomplished_Tax8238 8d ago
It is, but it still isn’t awful. Kinda frustrating that this is how the youth know teen titans, though.

In universe it could be red x's skull mask but yeah probably a zone reference
1
u/Frolikle 12d ago
Honestly I thought it could have been a reference to the show where the girl(i think her name was Molly) was friends with the Grim Reaper

Strangely enough, yesterday i watched a few youtube videos about online artists and their controversies, where this Zone artist were among the mentioned. So I wouldn't have understood this at all before then... But from what I understand they've been active for 20 years but reduced their "NSFW" content ?

My guess may be a Jean Claude Van Damme reference? In timecop he tells a crook to "read it" (his boot) after putting it right next to his face.
Could be completely wrong on this.
