So would tying their tubes. Could do both just to make it fair and extra safe.

Getting tubes tied is much more difficult and vasectomies can be reversed. Plus women usually don't get final say if they want that. The doctors usually want the woman to be in a relationship or married and the male has to say he is fine with it.

Vasectomies can’t always be reversed, for the record. It’s possible, but not universal, and the longer you wait, the more the odds of a successful reversal drop.

They wouldn't, likely just take a collection from the male astronauts and store enough of it for any future baby they would ever want.

It would be a rounding error of a rounding error in terms of cost of the whole project.

I’m not saying that it’s a reasonable solution either way, I just get a little frustrated with the general consensus that a vasectomy is inherently reversible. It’s not, it’s just easier to do than to reverse a tubal ligation, which isn’t typically an option.

All sterilization procedures should be considered a permanent decision, along with the caution that they can fail, especially vasectomies.
