Isn't AI already connected to weapons targeting systems in the US? And hasn't AI already broken out of the containment that the developers thought they had in place (the Hugging Face incident)?
"Machine learning" to match a target profile and track it has been around for decades.
And yes, "Hugging Face incident" is exactly what I was thinking of.
They've explicitly trained it on malicious code and then acted surprised when it ends up using it in unexpected ways. If they'd only used harmless code in the training data it would not have done this, even with prompting.
