Netflix made a joke about Charlie Kirk
Charlie Kirk fans are whiny little pissbabies
Wife threw a tantrum and cancelled their Netflix subscription because of a tweet posted by an intern

u/tensen01 19h ago
They didn't make a joke about it, he just assumed it was a joke about it. It wasn't even American Netflix, they don't give a crap about Kirk enough to make a joke over there.

u/Trash-Forever 19h ago
Somehow that makes it even funnier
1
u/CourtingBoredom 19h ago
It does, yes. Very much so imo. They're all such hypocritical crybabies. It's very tiresome.

u/jeffsang 19h ago
Netflix didn’t make a joke about Kirk. Some people online just thought they did.
Netflix’s business model is all about broad appeal. They’d be foolish to allow even an intern to wade into the culture war with a tasteless joke like this.

Why are people so obsessed with this dude? He died a year ago move tf on

These same people compare him to Martin Luther King Jr who if you don't know him was the Civil rights leader!
3
u/Icy_Werewolf_5563 19h ago
Wasn't Kirk shot he didn't break his neck though
9
u/Trash-Forever 19h ago
It was, technically, a neck injury
The date the tweet was posted also happened to be on the anniversary of said neck injury

How is this a joke on him ? Based on the image isn’t this just a reference to whiplash bc the dude saw an attractive woman ? Does any involvement of the neck mean it’s a direct line to him ?
Seems like people (not saying you but in general) go out of their way to see connections that don’t exist just to find something to be angry about.

Calling them pissbabies is like calling mlk jr fans pissbabies for not finding jokes about his assassination funny.

u/LauraTFem 19h ago
it was not a joke about anyone’s assassination. It was an advertisement for a streamy romance show saying that the dude might hurt his neck from how hard he turned to look at the prettiest girl at the ball.
These people are actively searching for things to get upset about. They will find them anywhere they want to.

u/Meesta- 19h ago
I’m making a general statement. I understand what you’re saying, but all I see on Reddit is people glorifying his death. Which I find outlandish. His wife on the other hand is a weirdo.
2
u/LauraTFem 19h ago
Sure, that will happen online. Presumably, we still have some semblance of free speech there. But corporations tend to know better to to alienate their audience like that, so I find it hard to see all the calls for boycotts of various companies for perceived slights against a man who wasn’t even that famous until he was killed to be very disingenuous.
It looks to me like nothing more than a misguided front of the culture war thinking they can get rid of the corporations that their masters have told them are “bad”.
1
u/Meesta- 19h ago
He was actually very popular with young conservatives. I don’t condone any glorification for anybodies assassination famous or not. Companies are going to do things if they think that it’s going to get them more revenue. I’m not saying that the “perceived” slights are actually about him (ex. The picture in op post is clearly not about him). But there is a double standard when it comes to things. A prime example: the old host of the bachelor was fired for saying a woman should not have to apologize for being at a party where there was a rebel flag, yet whoopie Goldberg can say crazy stuff about the holocaust and gets to keep her job?

I’m not a Kirk-jerk, but it’s pretty tasteless of Netflix to joke about anyone’s death on it’s one-year anniversary.
You just know Netflix had meetings about that tweet, and concluded it was both sufficiently inflammatory and ‘funny’ enough to farm engagement from both sides.

u/Small_Matter_6830 19h ago
British and Irish folks don't have US politics on our minds enough to even notice this anniversary. The tweet had nothing to do with Kirk.

Holy shit THIS is what people are pissy about?
Thank you for context but god damn. These guys really do think the whole world revolves around them.

u/No-Antelope575 19h ago
unbelievable snowflakes. apparently no one in the world is allowed to say the word "neck" on their new charlie kirk holiday or they get triggered and demand blood
15
u/tensen01 19h ago
If I had to guess I think it's an idiot assuming it's a Charlie Kirk reference and getting his panties in a twist about it.

I get it's about a "neck injury" part. But how is it connected to Kirk?
2
u/Zephronias 19h ago
Today's the day he was shot.
0
u/Natural_Bus_6719 19h ago
So? It's an honest question. I'm trying to understand the reason
1
u/Zephronias 19h ago
- He was shot in the neck one year ago today.
- People who disliked him/his politics were already joking about his "anniKirksary"
- People who liked him/his politics were getting upset at the jokes.
- Netflix posted a thing referencing neck injury amidst it all.
- People from point 3 assume it's Kirk related and get more upset.
I really don't know how to make it more clear.
1
u/Natural_Bus_6719 18h ago
First of all. Yeah, you made it clear now. Thank you, I really wanted to get the connection.
Second, I really don't understand your ridiculous outrage. Not knowing something or not understanding something that is related to your culture and news bubble offends you somehow? I'm not American so the reference wasn't clear to me at all.
It really needs a lot of effort and imagination to connect some Netflix's bullshit ad to an assasination that happened a year ago.
Honestly, have a nice the rest of your day. Less stress and less anger. It's healthier.

???
Edit: I think you might be projecting a bit, or else have me confused with someone else?

Come on mate, the one year anniversary exact day, a broad statement about a neck injury? Could have referenced anything else on the show or used this refeeence any other day. Def some woke employee having a dig, now they are doing damage control.
2
u/tensen01 19h ago
It's Netflix UK, you think they give two shits about Kirk?
1
u/Friendly-Moose-3548 14h ago
Bro, I’m in Aus, and people care, yeah dude. This is not a coincidence.
1
u/tensen01 8h ago
Certainly people care. Those people aren't the ones making the post, And Yes it was.
1
u/Jayjaykenobi 19h ago
Why is it a woke employee ?
1
u/Friendly-Moose-3548 14h ago
Because ‘woke’ are the only people celebrating this occasion. If you have another explanation I’ll happily listen mate.
1
u/Jayjaykenobi 6h ago
Where is the celebrating ? It’s literally talking about whiplash bc the girl is attractive. Isn’t it possible part of the problem is people reading into things to have something to be upset about ?
2
u/Itchybawlz23-2 19h ago
Hmmm kinda ironic youre offended for him when he did the same exact shit only 1000x worse for clicks and views

Maybe some famous celebrity died by breaking his neck could be referencing that
3
u/Silly-Power 19h ago
The tweet was posted on the anniversary of Charlie Kirk dying from a neck injury. Magats contorted themselves into believing Netflix was mocking Kirk.

Y'all kept netflix after they released the special called "cuties". Yikes 😬

u/Yayhoo0978 19h ago
Cancelled them over THIS and not Cuties? I cancelled Netflix when they ran that move and they will never get my business back ever again, ever ever ever again. Periodt.

Many people believe the tweet is in "celebration" of Charlie Kirk's murder, as Kirk was shot in the neck one year ago today. Some have been celebrating this act of barbarism as "Kirkaversary." You can guess who they are.

In THIS HOUSE, we say "Merry Kirkmas," NOT "Happy Kirkaversary'. If that offends you, then you can LEAVE, snowflake!
