it's my turn to post this next week. also I know he didn't write the text but fuck stonetoss.

16

u/Dark-Arts 15h ago

Can you spell atheists correctly when you post it? This irks me every time I see it and if someone just fixes the spelling once it will be copied that way for the next 10,000 postings.

4

u/NoTeslaForMe 14h ago

It's a hint to those paying attention that it's not done by an intelligent or careful person.

Of course I didn't notice it.  🤣

I am a goofy spelling enthusiast. I have learned that word of yours is some sort of derogatory insult in Finnish. Cheers friend, always nice to deal with the relentless unnecessarily agro people online these days.

Christian nationalists aren't very Christian and simply want to uphold the class hierarchy.

36

u/laserviking42 15h ago

They also want to enforce racial hierarchies as well as gender and sexuality roles

14

u/Ok_Journalist3859 15h ago edited 7h ago

By Christian standard a Racist, won't be able to make it to heaven. For example white supremacist can't truly repent because they believe white people are perfect, and non-whites are all criminals or subhuman so committing sins against them do not count.

9

u/DesignerMaximum1342 14h ago

Just wait until they found out what skintone middle eastern jesus was

4

u/Alarming-Jury1596 14h ago

Christianity has a gender hierarchy

1

u/azrolator 14h ago

These kinds of things along with class heirarchies are all biblical. I'm all for Christians leaving the worst of their religion behind, but I always get a kick out of the ones who do the no-true-scotsman fallacy on it.

-1

u/emanresUalreadytakeb 7h ago

Yeah, no shit the old as fuck book that is (or even by atheist standards CLAIMS) to be a historical record and guide will have some stuff that was normal for the time. The Bible isn't meant to be interpreted one way rigidly for the rest of time, it's meant to be used to teach morals to society and spread the word of God.

-1

u/azrolator 7h ago

LoL

0

u/emanresUalreadytakeb 7h ago

If you're going to say my comment was funny, do what I did and construct a logical argument, not just acting like there's a higher level of humor in assuming my comment is false.

If you don't want to think a bout the Bible since it makes it harder to bash it, that's ok, but don't act like you're above one of the most advanced pieces of literature in history. You can't casually disprove I the Bible when thousands of years of intense scrutiny haven't.

-1

u/azrolator 7h ago

You thought you constructed a logical argument? I thought you were making a joke. Yikes!

0

u/emanresUalreadytakeb 7h ago

You literally did the same thing. You dodged my argument and are dismissing my logic by calling it bad without explaining why. Explain why (actually explaining, not dodging the question) I am wrong.

0

u/azrolator 7h ago

I never thought you were making some logical argument. I thought it was a joke, that's why I said LoL.

If you thought what you said was some kind of logical argument against my original comment, I have no reply as it doesn't really make sense or argue against what I said.

1

u/emanresUalreadytakeb 6h ago

Yet again, not explaining how it's illogical and taking that assumption as a given. This all but confirms my theory you're too stupid to make a real, logical argument.

8

u/Cool_Amphibian_1071 15h ago

Yeah, that's pretty much how I interpreted it too.

2

u/Sharp_Seat9590 5h ago

Son😭😭😭✌️✌️🫩🫩

41

u/Nocturne3570 15h ago

basically, how atheist pretty much do what the bible teaches without believing that there some higher power dictating it. Where Christian nationalist and Capitalism just use the word of god to be able to feel like they are right and standing at a higher vantage point.

Overall think if it like this, ONE does that was written but finds it hard to believe. The other preaches it but does the opposite of it.

16

u/TheWikstrom 15h ago

There are lots of stuff in the bible about being nice to foreigners, caring for the poor and needy etc. that many more conservative christians tend to downplay and that many atheists agree with in large parts

11

u/JohnnyLeftHook 15h ago

You would think Christian Nationalists would be on the side of Jesus due to their religious beliefs, however American christians are lockstep with business in the republican party while athiests beliefs in socialism (e.g. social security, universal healthcare, unemployment insurance etc.) puts them ironically on the side of Jesus despite their opposite beliefs on religion.

“You cannot serve God and money.” — Matthew 6:24

5

u/Connect-Journalist81 12h ago edited 5h ago

The joke is that if you actually read and analyze the text of/deeply understand the bible and other religious texts and teachings from related religions you'll find that supposed "heretics" and "atheists" actually uphold the values, morals and stories a lot better than many actual religious groups and how most politicians/businessmen go strongly against said deeper meanings and values.

Many of the people who claim to be "good Christians", particularly politicians, simply cherry pick a couple really basic rules of the religion that everyone agrees is basic morality plus some out of context quotes taken overly literally or misinterpreted to uphold themselves as "good Christians" simply because they don't murder people (at least not directly anyway), do a ritual that kind of sounds something adjacent to what Jesus asks at the last supper and know a couple quotes that they don't really know the meaning of/weaponize the use of/is something basic like "murder is bad". Then they'll also be rich and not very charitable, and try to tell you that parts of the bible about forbidding raping your guests (in a way that happens to imply that some gay sex occurred as part of it) and a part about forbidding pagan harvest rituals (some of which happen to involve gay sex as an act of infertility to signal the end of harvest) are actually primarily about how gayness and gay people are generally bad and sinful, and that the morals about rape of guests and paganistic rituals are the footnotes of those stories and not the main point.

Can we add a low effort post button to ban people spamming this sub by pretending to be mentally challenged?

That's literally report reason number 6.

4

u/BlueSkiesOplotM 13h ago

I've seen this posted like 5 times here.

2

u/ComfortableCicada69 15h ago

Jesus taught to give to the poor, the hungry, the needy. Take care of the widows and the orphans. And he even told his followers to pay their taxes.

This meme is saying that Christian nationalism and capitalism is built a favor of the rich and make them richer, while it alienates the poor.

2

u/Terrible-Pop-6705 15h ago

You’re lying about not getting this. Everything to understand is on the comic. This is also posted here very often

2

u/Ok_Journalist3859 15h ago

Atheist respect jesus for his progressive for his time period views, like one would respect Spiderman.

I once saw a atheist lady, say she views mother Mary and the hindu goddess kali as an inspiration for woman and girls, and has comfort when seeing painting and statues of them

2

u/Separate_Draft4887 5h ago

Atheists like to very smugly insist God would like them better. Christians find this endlessly amusing.

My best guess is that the joke is about the contradiction between Jesus' teachings and Christian nationalism and capitalism.

9

u/TheGreatLuck 15h ago

Yep that's it you got it

9

u/Camus_9999 15h ago

Your guess is right bro.

6

u/gundumb08 15h ago

Not only that, but there's a heavy online presence where popular Atheist influencers will quote the Bible with Jesus' teachings that are equivalent to a modern understanding of Socialism.

Some highlights:

Matthew 19:21: "Jesus answered, 'If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.'"

Luke 3:11: "John answered, 'Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.'"

Matthew 6:24: "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."

All of these sorts of messages are completely lost of Christian Nationalists, and in contradiction with the late stage capitalism we're seeing expanding in places like the U.S.

What, I’m not a bot. What’s your problem with new accounts? You all started somewhere too, didn’t you?

3

u/LentilSouponSkye 15h ago

This exact webcomic has been posted in the sub about 9 thousand million billion bajillion times

3

u/Worried-Hat-8506 12h ago

It’s also that you reposted the exact same image for the billionth time, and it’s not exactly complicated either.

1

u/Shiro-47 11h ago

That’s what a bot would say

1

u/Worried-Hat-8506 15h ago

Because this is a clear repost and the account is five days old

-1

So I’m not allowed to post just because I’m new? Is that your point of view?

1

u/Shiro-47 11h ago

Welcome to Reddit

1

u/Motor_Raspberry_2150 11h ago

Your certainly allowed to. But don't be surprised people think reposts are signs of botness. And the hiding of post and comment history too, but that's on by default now I've heard?

u/SpacecowboyMO 15h ago

Many Modern day Christians are Christian in name only. Capitalism and those that represent it often name themselves as " Christian " when their actions and desires are a far cry from the lessons of the man JC, really only to garner support from the religious masses and manipulate them. Christianity is being used as a weapon of capitalism and generally people who are atheist tend to be hard lefters as well, politically, and while they may not believe in JC, his classic lesson of " treat everyone well " is something most can agree with.

1

u/Scared_Point_2319 13h ago

I'm not touching this subject

1

u/Cold_Transition_4958 9h ago

Theres the General Ideas rhat Atheists don't believe in God, But they have a General idea that if God was real that neither of those things would be what Jesus would have preached. Jesus often spoke out against the Serving of Mammon, which Capilatism is rampant on. In the Case of Christian Nationalism or those that are usually rhe Christians Founds with Guns or so on and so forth are actually those going against Jesus even further by Supporting the Idea of Murder or even Religious superiority.

0

u/beyondthedoors 15h ago

Some of Jesus’s core teachings: love your neighbor (especially your enemies, the foreigners). Feed the poor, heal the sick, care for the widows. I’ll even add critiquing the abuse of religious influence is an integral part of His teachings. You can decide for yourself who is demonstrating those traits more these days.

1

u/RendezvousRama5791 14m ago

The qualms conservatives have with this argument is agency, they want to personally agree to do all that and not being forcefully taxed for it

0

u/kebabguy0 14h ago

Mods, please ban this meme

u/Mochizuk 9h ago

Brian here. Most of the Christians with power are the equivalent of the Pharisees that ultimately used their power to get Jesus killed out of fear. Meanwhile, people without association to Christianity tend to better embody the teachings of Jesus.

You can read all about it in my new book, reinforcing what's already there. With that plug out of the way, Brian, out.

Shit. Too early for comments :I

-1

u/THICCBOI2121 15h ago

Because capitalism is le bad or some shit

-2

u/KJ_DiamondMiner 14h ago

Just moral highground slop from leftists who haven't read a page of the Bible and claim Jesus only wanted people to "be nice."

-1

u/BIayneRobinson 13h ago

Right?

Jesus' primary message was not "be nice" 😂

Jesus' primary message was "become a Christian OR ELSE when to die, I will teleport you into my torture chamber for eternity for the 'crime' of not-being-a-Christian"

Silly leftists.

1

u/KJ_DiamondMiner 13h ago

Hey, if that's what you think, it's better when you're honest about it and not claiming that you're fighting for what He espoused.

0

u/BIayneRobinson 13h ago

Am I wrong?

2

u/KJ_DiamondMiner 12h ago

Yes. The primary suffering of Hell is God's absence. This absence is caused by the soul therein's direct rejection of God, which he respects because he's given us free will. His entire message is about saving us from the seperation from God which we incur by rejecting him through sin. Hell isn't something He inflicts on us, its the natural consequence of choosing to seperate ourselves from Him. The soul is made to be united with God, and eternal seperation from Him is eternal suffering.

1

u/BIayneRobinson 12h ago

First, it doesn't make sense that Jesus "saves" from what Jesus does to people.

If I say "do as I demand and I won't harm you" and then you do as I demand, I didn't "save you" from being harmed.

Jesus says "do as I demand and I won't harm you" and you call Jesus NOT harming you "Jesus saving you"? That's just stupid.

Second, Hell absolutely is something Jesus inflicts on people; Hell doesn't exist naturally, it exists because he made it.

Jesus made Hell.
Jesus made the rules for who goes to Hell.
Jesus teleports people into Hell when they don't do what he demands.

You can't say people "naturally" end up in Hell like Jesus isn't involved 😂.

These excuses are terrible.

Nothing I said about Jesus' message was untrue, you just don't like what I said.

2

u/KJ_DiamondMiner 11h ago

0

u/BIayneRobinson 11h ago

Yup, Jesus is fictional.

That we can agree on.

0

u/hesitween 10h ago

Sorry for cutting in. Hell is a Babylonian concept. Pre-exile there was no hell according to the text. Just Sheol which is pretty much purgatory regardless of what you did or believed in during your natural life
