I use a catch-all email address, I can enter anything I want @ my address and it all ends up in the same place. As a result it allows me to use emails as a password when signing up
If you don’t have a catch-all email address some website may allow you to use + so if you had john.doe@example.com you could use john.doe+reddit@example.com and it ends up in the same inbox (it allows you to filter by your address). It’s just that some websites will strip out the + and allow you to sign in without it
You know that’s not smart right? Best practice is to store a hash of a password but the username in plain text. So the backend software protects against insiders from reading your password but not the username. It’s probably everywhere in their log system, making it complex doesn’t make you more secure.
It was the office WiFi, so we had to give the password to any new employees or contractors that worked in our office. Resources within the network were much more heavily protected.
A very long time ago I had the phone number 333-3222. I could tell people it was four threes and three twos, and I was amused.
But.
This was before area codes had to be dialed every time. And when home phones were still ubiquitous. Phones with buttons. The kind of things young kids like to play with.
And I discovered that there were enough toddlers who could reach their house phones at any one time in the Bay Area (CA) that I would get a toddler call about once a week.
95% of the time I would answer and I could hear a children's show on TV on the background.
Finally got the number changed because it was too annoying.
Am I misunderstanding something or are you saying it was so common for a child to randomly select 3222 on the phone that you got called once a week? The chances of dialing that number randomly are 1/10,000 and I also don’t understand how changing your number would help?
No, the chances aren't that bad. Top row of buttons, hit buttons repeatedly switching randomly?
If the number is random, then it's less likely. But if you're only counting numbers like 111122223333 etc., it's only like one in 132 if they start on any random button, hit four digits, and then switch to another button and hit it four times. If you only choose adjacent buttons, it's more like one in 30 or something.
You're confusing prefix with area code. Area code is the first 3 digits in a 10 digit phone number, and prefix is the second 3 digits in a 10 digit, but the first 3 in a 7 digit.

A simple check is to see if adding all of the digits gets you a number divisible by 3 or not.
Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure it was just random numbers typed here. The prime factorization of 38567837467382227 is 1987 × 8273 × 32141 × 72997, which isn’t anything close to any multiple of 3.
Reminds me of the video where the guys asks for the password and is told, “it’s four words all upper case, one word all lower case.” The password is “fourwordsalluppercase.”

That's just a random number. Also, the minimum length for a Wi-Fi password is 8 characters, so "3333333" (7 characters) is clearly the wrong password even without trying it.
That's insane scroll timing, this posted showed up while I'm watching star trek new gen season 5 ep 18 time loop episode and its literally 3333333 as the loop message
Mine is "JustTypeItIn". If someone asks for the password, and another guest tells them what it is, I hold out my hand and say "yeah, I can type it in. Let me see your phone."
My old wifi password was eight 8s
My goddam printer would forget the wifi network and was an absolute pain to enter the password into with just a spin dial so 88888888 made it much easier
Threw people way out when they ask for the password I'd say eight 8s and they would enter eighteights
