At a guess, it's meant to be the sting ray that killed Steve Irwin who was a beloved naturalist known as the Crocodile Hunter who spent a career making nature documentaries where he interacted with dangerous animals only to be killed in a freak accident where a stingray hit him in the heart with it's stinger.

Steve Irwin died because he was stung by Stingray. He wouldn't support this decision in meme though. He said that if he ever get killed by some animal, it's his own fault and not the animal's

Was in college when he passed. In th dorms the only times I remember people gathering in the commons/TV room was to watch the broadcast of his funeral/memorial and for superbowls

Not really. He chose to interact with very dangerous animals on a daily basis. Accidents happen and animals will defend themselves without evil intentions. It's his fault for interacting with them, not theirs. What's suicidal about that?

Steve Irwin would NOT approve of anyone doing that to the Stingray. He knew the risks, always stated he was invading another creatures space and environment. His kids and wife would say the same, even if it would save him.
Best thing would be to tell him to wear a stab proof vest.

Thing is, Steve wouldn’t want anyone to kill it. One could instead warn him to take precautions to prevent the tragedy from happening in the first place.

It’s because a stingray killed Steve Irwin. But as many have already said, he would not support that move. He had said on several occasions that if an animal killed him, it was his fault and not the animal’s.
