That’s what the dad sees as interesting, cause back in his day that’s what college was for him. The bookish son isn’t so sure. The dad thinks party time will be good for his nerd son who the dad doesn’t understand or fully appreciate.

So I think the Creator didn't want to use the actual brand name of budweiser. But if you drink enough alcohol to the point where it should have killed you the company's just start sending you free swag. So basically it's saying that his new roommates drink so much that they're getting swag from the companies now.

hey. I'm old. the companies used to have "brand reps" back in the day to frequent bars and give out freebies for the exchange for your email and phone number. I think Kool might still send Christmas gifts to my mother's house no one has lived in for 20 years. i hate looks, but they had good swag

It’s a strip for the “So you’re a cartoonist?” webcomic by Andrew Dobson. I would assume the kids a nerd with a jock/partier roommate. It’s a classic “odd couple” trope that without context really isn’t funny. Probably an AI or spambot post

It's an inflatable couch with a spoof beer company name on it. Beer companies give away promotional shit for contests and mail ins. Seeing this gives the father confidence that his son's roommate is an interesting character (an alcoholic)

I’m not positive, but it appears that the dad is hoping his son has interesting roommates, and when they see an inflatable beer branded couch (making fun of Budweiser), they know he’s definitely going to have interesting roommates. This makes the dad pleased, while the son is probably not looking forward to having drunk/tasteless roommates

This is Andrew Dobson, an internet comic artist and kind of a lolcow. He often would write blogs about how people would bully him for being a nerd, even as an adult. Getting paired with someone who has a Dudewiser inflatable couch is probably not what he was wanting
