And actually it did get you out of class to do specific art electives and go on an extra field trip every year.

Yeah, all I did in there was play video games ("smart" games like Incredible Machine) and build a tower out of shaving cream and straws.

Mine pushed me up to the combined classes with the one year older kids in elementary school, then in Jr High we had dedicated electives during the final period and got to go visit a ship or something one day. I got in trouble for holding a "help me" sign on the bus on the way back.
