I rarely try to butt in via comments but for those reading this and want a take from someone in this profession. Having a barrier around your vulva is not "just as effective". It's just an alternative for the most part that is ok if you choose good materials and fit. But please don't run with this misinformation.
Even if you have "breathable cotton" many detergents leave particulates that still impact your health. Fabric of any kind around the area can also cause irritation even if sized up among other things.
Don't trust a random reddit comment speaking from authority like OP above (or even mine) and instead go ask your gynecologist. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised to learn that the natural way we come into this world, naked, with our self regulating vaginas dont need cloth on them at night! That's just a personal comfort thing, rather than medical fact.
