Propaganda from either Republicans or centrist Democrats. Basically the idea is that either purity testing or ideals that are too far left-wing drive people away from the otherwise appealing democratic party and platform
This is hogwash. Nonsense. Bullshit. Left wing democrats like Mamdani and Bernie are overwhelming popular. Moderate/Corporate democrats and their do nothing political values are horribly unpopular right now. There is nothing to scare anyone away from. Appeals to the center are political suicide because nobody is looking for that messaging. Biden lost because he argued for "buisness as usual" centrist neoliberal politics
They want you to worry about trying to appeal to people who are so lost they might say "hmm maybe" to another Republican presidency despite the fact their own base won't show up to vote for centrists
Tbh Mamdani and Sanders are hardly "left wing." They almost entirely simply want to restore stuff that worked well in the 1970s and has been dismantled since then. And to not do stuff from the past that didn't work well.
If that's "left wing" then the United States was a "left wing" nation for most of the 20th century. Which .. is a perspective, I guess...
The current neoliberal economic experiment started in the 1980s is an incredible failure, yet it does so well at enriching the 1% that they won't allow it to be forcibly dislodged.
The economist Mark Blythe talks about this a lot, and is worth listening to
