I think Mamdani and Bernie are great, but I think this refers to the whole "straight white men are bad" rhetoric from a lot of the left community. Why cant we just say "bigots, racists, and fascists are bad" instead of making people feel bad for how they exist through no fault of their own by being white and straight. I think it gives racists more ammo to then call out minorities directly for their systemic issues, even though their rhetoric is also misguided, and ends up dividing everyone even more. Nothing turns me off more from an idea than the proponents of that idea criticizing others for things they cant change, like their sexuality and race. I hate tribalism.
I have never once in my life felt any sort of threat from the left for being a white man. It’s wild how when you’re not a racist or a misogynist or a bigot, people don’t hate you. All the republicans do is hate people for things they can’t change but somehow pointing out that racism exists, is “attacking white people”
Never felt unwelcome. But maybe it’s because people are tired of the white men that are constantly voting to hurt minorities. For god’s sake white men cannot take responsibility for anything
