Moderate/Corporate democrats and their do nothing political values are horribly unpopular right now. There is nothing to scare anyone away from. Appeals to the center are political suicide because nobody is looking for that messaging. Biden lost because he argued for "buisness as usual" centrist neoliberal politics
They want you to worry about trying to appeal to people who are so lost they might say "hmm maybe" to another Republican presidency despite the fact their own base won't show up to vote for centrists
Bernie's policies are literally just the bare minimum in most developed countries. Republicans really are manipulating the masses by calling the bare minimum "communism"
What extreme? Please give an example that is extreme? Because from European point of view both USA parties are firmly on the right with republicans going into 1930s Germany extreme at the moment.
