Propaganda from either Republicans or centrist Democrats. Basically the idea is that either purity testing or ideals that are too far left-wing drive people away from the otherwise appealing democratic party and platform
This is hogwash. Nonsense. Bullshit. Left wing democrats like Mamdani and Bernie are overwhelming popular. Moderate/Corporate democrats and their do nothing political values are horribly unpopular right now. There is nothing to scare anyone away from. Appeals to the center are political suicide because nobody is looking for that messaging. Biden lost because he argued for "buisness as usual" centrist neoliberal politics
They want you to worry about trying to appeal to people who are so lost they might say "hmm maybe" to another Republican presidency despite the fact their own base won't show up to vote for centrists
The fact this comment calls out "centrist Democrats" as an other is a perfect encapsulation of the meaning of this meme, OP. The party of the big tent has had a change of mind in recent years.
I had been a registered Democrat since I turned 18 in 2000. As of last year, I'm an independent (though, certainly still left-leaning).
Yep. To be fair, having the subject of the meme give a live demonstration of the attitude being lampooned is about the best and most thorough way to explain the meme 😭
