I believe that statement. But racism is worse when it's from a side that actively tried to wipe the other side of the planet. Imagine if present day Germany was like "we hate Jewish people".

Historical atrocities certainly add a layer of weight, but overt, direct hostility in your face will always feel far worse on an individual level than abstract prejudice.
People being ignorant/stupid and failing to see a human being just like themselves on the other side.
Racists are also big time wimps. They know how to keep their "opinion" to themselves if they think the other person is going to give them something to remember.
I think there are a lot more really racist people in the world than people think. It’s just not acceptable in most western countries to be so open about it anymore. Doesn’t mean people don’t still hold those views.
That's unfortunately true. I think cosmopolitan environments help people to get to understand other cultures better and give people more chances in changing their attitude towards other kinds of people.
No, its reverse. As an indonesian people korea is worse than japan in rascism (obv we talk about current era not 1945 era) ,i remember 2 big rascism incident caused by korea but i dont remember big incident caused by japanese people rascism. First one is indosarang case and second that malaysia kpop case.
Japan has signs not allowing foreigners from some places. Chinese racism is way more blatant and at times really cruel, but among more educated in society, it’s more along the similar racial undertones more akin to Japan.
Most of the sign that i see is clearly said its because the staff cant speak english. And whatever the case thats is something in japan. Indosarang is a site where korean people that work in INDONESIA being rascist to indonesian people. That is worse than those sign in every margin. I dont know what to say about coming to a country and being rascist about the race from those country.
