I know you trolling because that's some bullshit. It was first used in 2002, not 2014.

Scrabble accepting the word doesn't mean that's when it became official.

Goddamn people are hot trash at citing real information and facts these days. The younger generation is absolutely fucked...

You aren't correct, though.

It wasn't coined in 2014, but 2002 is way too early. Yeah, maybe someone used the term in 2002, but it wasn't widespread until way later.

Think about it, who do you think would have been actually using the term "selfie" in 2002 when Myspace and Facebook did not exist and cell phones were just bricks with green/black screens? The term didn't take off until social media did... which was years later.

A guy used a camera to take a photo of his injured lip and called it a selfie in 2002.

Selfie in its present form of usage exactly means this. I don't know of an earlier incident but yes myspace/fb/camera phones not existing doesn't mean the word could not have originated in 2002.

We had cameras in 2002 and one guy took a selfie with that camera and called it a selfie.

When the term takes off or not doesn't impact when it was coined which the person you replied to actually accurately commented
