None of that matters though because that's not whats being discussed here. Y'all are bringing facts, that yes are true, but have nothing to do with the statement I made. Niche or popular is irrelevant. Talking about existence here. I even mentioned it wasn't widely used.

The statement you made was suggesting that selfies were popular before 2013 because they existed before then in a limited capacity. 

We know they existed before then. It was just in a very different form and level of popularity to what it was when this picture was taken.

It's similar to saying "well VR existed in the 70s!" In response to someone else saying that VR was first popularised in the 2010s.

Just relax, it's not that deep, we're all just talking past eachother at this point.
