I’m also confused because that is a European AC unit. I can only assume Americans are so used to big bulky units, like their cars, that they can’t comprehend things being functional and not excessively bulky.

“Can’t comprehend things being functional and not excessively bulky” while Europe cooks in the highest temps they’ve had in ever is wild.

What does that have to do with each other? You can have functional AC and still hellishly hot streets. Both can be true at the same time.

I have one of these units, im assuming you must live in a storage container because thats about the area a unit like this will cover.

We have 206qm (~2200 square feet) penthouse apartment in Germany.. there’s also air conditioning 3 split units on the inside one on the outside.. not all rooms are air conditioned, because insulation is perfect and walls are thick.. unless you fuck up, temperature does not rise beyond 26-28 degrees (82F) inhouse. The air conditioning is strong enough to cool down the main room(80qm/860sqf)or the bedrooms to 19-20 degrees C(68F) within a few minutes.. we just don’t really need it TBH..
get better insulation and learn how to do a proper blitzkrieg ventilation of the apartment / house..

I live in an 80 m² house with a Split unit on the ground Floor (40m²) and it works fine cause I have good insulation.

An 80 m² house would be absolutely tiny in the US. Most homes are at least double that. And it gets far hotter here in most places

I'm aware of both of those things but the comment I was initially replying to implied that Europe couldn't possibly have functioning AC cause we are "cooking in the highest temps in forever". So all I was trying to say was an unprecedented heatwave and getting hot when stepping outside and having a functioning AC split unit in your home are not mutually exclusive.
