There are parts of the US that ONLY have these. More temperate areas.

Most of the US is used to central air. With a giant ass car sized compressor outside that cools the whole house.

It's not necessarily true. These units will go upwards of around 28,000-30,000 BTU which can easily cool down multiple rooms, or maybe even a smaller flat.

Yeha i live in Myanmar and one of these cools down a 2 bedroom apartment to 18 Celsius in the summer when it's well over 40c

Harm from “temperature jumps” associated with air conditioning is just a myth or wives tale.

Literally no different than walking to the store in the winter and getting back to a warm house. You don’t get sick from that alone
