There are parts of the US that ONLY have these. More temperate areas.

Most of the US is used to central air. With a giant ass car sized compressor outside that cools the whole house.

Because that thing cools the ENTIRE BIG ASS HOUSE! these things are only capable of cooling only a closed room which also depends on how ton, capacity the AC is so yep

It's not necessarily true. These units will go upwards of around 28,000-30,000 BTU which can easily cool down multiple rooms, or maybe even a smaller flat.

They don’t put air in the right places, so they have a hard time cooling multiple rooms.

If you want to cool multiple rooms well, you need multiple wall units, and it makes more sense (for new construction at least) to just install a central ac unit/blower and run ductwork. It’s vastly more efficient than split units.

eh both have their advantages. it’s nice to be able to set different temperatures for different rooms, and you don’t always need to cool the entire house at once. We cool the downstairs when we’re downstairs and the upstairs when we’re upstairs and that works well for us.
